How do you remind yourself about what you need from the Supermarket?

My phone cause I would forget the list at home, rarely forget my phone.

I keep a running list and add to it when I need something
Running list here too, on the counter all week. That way anyone can add to the list without having to track down the phone with the APP on it. We grocery shop on Sunday morning, and while we drink our morning cup of coffee we check cabinets and the fridge before heading out.
And we go down every isle in the store to help remind us of things we may have forgotten, or to seek what sale items are on that aisle.
We tend to meal plan for the next week's dinners based on what is on sale at the store that week. It normally will be one meal of whatever fresh fish, beef, chicken and pork cuts are on sale that week. We always have Schwans pre-cooked hamburger patties, Schwans breaded fish fillets, and eggs on hand for quick dinner items if we come up short.

My store has an app. You search your items, add them to the list and it sorts by aisle and gives you a predicted total. All of my family members have the app so we can all add to it as we need to.

Best thing ever!

Thank you for making me "not the only one"!

I tend to do that, too, if I type or write a hard copy of a list. The Out of Milk app categorizes everything so the items are generally grouped by aisle, but they aren't in the order of the aisles in the store. I can arrange things in a specific/custom order within a category but the categories are in alphabetical order. However, the one grocery store I go to has a shopping list feature on their website where you can just check off the items that you need, enter the specific store location and it will sort the list by aisle and location within that aisle according to the store location you're shopping at. They've had that feature for 10+ years already. I thought it was the coolest thing when it was first available.

I used to keep a running list on my phone. A couple of years ago I downloaded my grocery store's app and have never looked back. It's awesome! I add to my list on it as I think of it, but can also easily refer to what products I typically buy, or even what I bought this time last year. Love it! Then as I shop I just tic off the items on the list.

One of my favorite things on the app is it tells you what aisle items are in. So those rarely bought items are easy to find. The list also organizes by area of store so easy to follow. And dh can sign in from his phone and get it all if he happens to go.

I use an app on my phone. I add things as they occur to me and then open the app in the store and check them off as I go. I shop in two or three stores so one stores app would not do for me.

That's what shared lists are for. Everyone adds to the list on their own device and it automagically appears for everyone. Most of us who choose to utilize the features on our phones don't need to track them down, they're within our reach most of the time.

I also organize my lists in order of the store. My dad is the "great list maker" I learned from the best. In Paperless I keep lists for all the stores I shop and if one doesn't have what I need I can easily transfer the item to another list. My store apps do have list features but it never occurred to me that they might list things in order with price for me. I will be exploring that today.

Running list on the fridge.

If it's a good week, I copy it over in isle-order before I go to the store. :duck: (Most weeks, I grab it off the fridge and stuff it in my coat pocket. )
Same. And if I'm ordering online, I pull up past purchases and add items from there.

Paper doesn't work for me. I'd have to carry the paper around everywhere with me. I might stop on the way home from work. I might not plan on stopping at the store, but the kids will text me at work and after work I'll run straight out to pick them up and decide to stop at the store on the way home from dropping them back off. I don't specifically leave "home" to go to the store. I'm rarely at "home" anyways since I don't really have one.

Luckily I don't buy much. Just breakfast and lunch stuff. I don't have a kitchen to cook in so I don't have to buy a lot. Just prepackaged garbage to get me by for breakfast and lunch. I use a phone app so it's always with me.

:sad2: {{sigh}} I can rely on DH and DS to give me helpful clues by putting empty packages/bottles/jars of things back in the cupboards and fridge for me to find. Nothing is quite so irksome as being in the middle of a recipe and finding there is only 2 teaspoons of sugar left in the bottom of the bag or 8 drops of olive oil in the bottle...

As for when I get to the store, I basically wing it - like practically everything else in life. :p My normal "big shops" are very routine so I just go up and down all the isles and fill my cart. I do make a list if I'm shopping for a special meal or event where it's crucial to have specific things but even then, we're within 2 minutes of our neighbourhood market and can dash over there if something has been forgotten. I do try never to stop in quickly on my way home from work though. At that point of the day my brain is fried and I'm always in a rush - I can very easily come away without the one or two things I specifically went to get.

Depends on how proactive I'm being, but it's:
Notes list on my phone
HEB app that adds to or coupons and specials
All Out Of list (see picture above)

I place my order online and pick it up. I usually keep a running list in my notes section of my iPhone.

I keep a piece of paper on the side of the fridge. If you want something...write it down. If you open the last box/package/jug of something...write it down. If it is written down - it appears in the house soon...almost as if by magic (at least to the other people in the house). If it is not written down - don't expect me to even try to remember it.

I have a running list on the kitchen counter and just add to it every time we run out of something. I have 1 of almost everything we need/use in the pantry or cabinet so when I start using that one that's when I write it down on the list so I will have another to put back in the pantry. Also, when I see a new recipe I want to try I look in the pantry to see what we have and if anything is needed for that recipe I write it down right away. I use one side of the paper (from small notepads) for food items and the other side is for supplies (laundry, paper goods, medications, cleaning supplies, etc.).

I have done this in the past too, the ShopRite near me often has coupons that work out for the free order picking or so much off if you spend a certain amount on your order. I figure the $10 fee for this service is a bargain compared to what I pick up because I am hungry while shopping or shopping outside of my list. I do like to pick out my meat and produce and found that lunch meat was never sliced the way I wanted it so I ended up back at the store anyway so I just go there myself now.

I always made a list and ALWAYS forgot it and left it at home! I bought Alexa for my husband for Christmas, so everyone adds things easily now--no forgetting to write things on the list, no forgetting the entire list! I just pull up the app when I get to the store and my list is there! I love it!
