Some friends served us a delicious cheese dip made with Jarlsberg. I have always thought it was pronounced with a "y" sound like yarls-berg. They pronounced it like the word "jar" just like it's spelled. I believe this to be a Swedish word and therefore the "y" sound. BTW, they served it with these flat preztel shaped chips with garlic on them and it was yummy(with the "y" sound):)

Mmmm love Jarlsberg and pronounced with a soft 'y' at the front :) BTW it is Norwegian cheese.

Claire ;)

It is pronounced with the Y sound.

I think "yarls-berg" is right. But I spent my whole life calling bruschetta "brushetta" until it was pointed out to me that it is really more like "brusketta."

With a "Y" sound... and per dictionary.com that's the correct way :)

hmmm...hate mispronouncing things, but I always said it the way you did. How about Tiramisu? I hear people accent different parts of it...:confused3
