How do you pronounce the Dis?

I have listened to the DIS podcast and was wondering if people pronounce it the same as they do or am I just weird? I say the dys not like the podcast.. But like when someone is dissing someone else.l..\

I took the confused option, because the above is how I pronounce it, and there wasn't an option for that.

Surely 'dis' and 'dys' would be the same pronunciation (if you're writing phonetically).

I have always pronounced it DIZ, just like another poster said Dizney. When I first found this place and told DH about it, he said he thought I was saying it wrong and that it was "DISS".

Oh and BTW, I had to vote that I was confused LOL...nothing new tho

I always said diss, but when I heard Pete pronounce it diz, I figured I was wrong. I have a lot of friends from this community who also say diz, so I was in the minority when I said diss. So, now I diz. I don't think it matters a lot though, just as long as we're here.

I was among those who pronounced it "DIS".


I asked Webmaster Alex, on a Q&A thread, what the "official" pronunciation was. He replied that DISboards stands for "Disney Information Station", thus, DIS was an acronym and not short for Disney (which has the "z" sound), so it is pronounced "Dis."

That's what I always thought - so I pronounced it "Dis".

Then, I listened to the Podcast. The host pronounced it "Diz". So, I'm thinking she doesn't know what she's talking about - Webmaster Alex knows the scoop - and we're right... it's "Dis".

Until I heard Pete's voice. The head honcho pronounces it "Diz." So, "Diz it iz." (get it?!?)
