Okay I am sure this is a dumb question........I have listened and watched a LOT of stuff about the Disney Dream since we are going on her in Nov. Many times I have heard it pronounced Castaway KAY and many times I have heard it pronounced Castaway KEY! (one time a trip reporter/blogger said it both ways in the same report!!!!!!) So which is it? Kay or Key? (I always thought Kay, just for the record).:)

It's spelled "CAY" but it's pronounced "KEY or KEE". That's the way they pronounce it on the ship during announcements, so that's the way I say it.

You say tomato.....

I have heard it and said it myself both ways! But I think it is supposed to be "KEY"

It is pronounced Key. Like the Florida Keys. Key is an alternate spelling to Cay.

Which is why they call them Castaway Cay-vents on the map they give you for CC day. If you pronounced it "Kay" in this example you might sound silly. Not they Key-vents is any less silly ; )

According to the dictionary, either pronunciation is correct. In shows, etc. DCL pronounces it "KEY."

English Police checking in here (English major in college)-I have only ever heard it pronounced KEY. :thumbsup2

I've always pronounced cay with the long a sound and so has my family. So we were surprised when we were on the Disney Magic and they kept saying "key". I thought I spelled it wrong on all my Disney magnets. When I looked at the itinerary and saw I had spelled cay right, I was surprised that it could be pronounced as "key". Disney is the only place where I had seen it pronounced that way. Maybe the pronunciation depends on where one lives geographically?

Here in Toronto, ON Canada, we have a place called "Queen's Quay". Pronounced Queen's Key. The English language can be strange sometimes!

And then there is the pronunciation of Quay ... which is also usually pronounced "Key" but not always...
