How do you prepare for a hair trial if you have curly hair?!?!?

Hi! So we're heading down soon for a planning session and hair trial, and I've realized that I have no idea what I'm supposed to do with my hair to get read for the trial. I know usually you should wash it and then have it completely dry without any hair product, right? But what if your hair is naturally curly, and I want to leave it mostly down and curly for the wedding? Should I blow it out straight and have them curl it again? Should I try to let it dry naturally and hope it doesn't frizz too horribly? Help! :confused3

I washed my hair and let it air dry, I had Ana from Beaute Speciale, she flat ironed it, and then curled it with a curling iron. I was worried because I thought the curls would fall out (my hair is long and we got married at Sunset Point where it's windy) but everything turned out fine, Ana sprayed this curl stuff in my hair and it stayed in great!! :goodvibes

I usually straighten my hair the day before and then show up like that. It's better because by then, my hair is "dirty" and easier to control. And they usually want it straight in order to do whatever with it.

Thanks! I guess I was just a little hesitant about straightening it to have it curled again, but that sounds like the way to go! :goodvibes

I have EXTEMELY curly hair. i was thinking of having them work with my natural curls and then thought against. i realized to have them work with your natural curl can be tough because as curly haired girls know they don't always dry the same way and tend to frizz. For every wedding I have been in as a BM, I always blown out my hair the day before and then have them either put it in hot rollers or curl it with a curling iron the day of the big event. that is what i am doing for my wedding and i am doing my hair half up all in curls. if you go to my PJ you can see picks of what i plan on doing. that is my advice from one curly haired chick to another ;)

I had my trial with Anna in August. I washed my hair that morning and let it air dry. When she arrived she went to town with the curling iron, she didn't blow dry it straight. I love how it turned out. It held up really well that day was nasty, it rained all day ~ we still mangaed to have our epics done.

I was browsing through the threads & saw this one & had to read it! I too have naturally curly hair & am hoping for the 1/2 up look as well. Thanks for all the tips because I've been wondering how on earth my hair will stay maintained & not get frizzy. My hair has a mind of it's own sometimes, as I'm sure you all know with your own experiences.;)

My daughter and I both have crazy naturally curly hair. My neice, who just graduated from cosmetology school, always straightens our hair first and then curls it with the curling iron. It does take a little longer that way, but it stays in better and it looks great.

I have very very curly hair, that never dries or styles the same way. What I usually do before getting it styled is wash it, and then use a flat brush and blow dryer to "straighten" it. (it is by no means presentable when I am finished, but it helps the stylist skip the step of making my hair manageable). At that point, the hair will be manageable but not set in a style, and the stylist will be able to straighten it or curl it with ease!

I have curly hair too, and before getting it styled always straighten it first and then get it re-curled. As others have said, it just makes it easier to work with and control.
