That when you tell them to do something, it means NOW, not when they get around to it? :headache:

For the last few weeks, it seems like my 5-year old is just totally unable to focus on anything.

I tell him it is time to get ready for karate, 15 minutes later I go in his room to get him, and he has not gotten dressed yet! I ask him what he is supposed to be doing, and then the lightbulb goes on. "Oh yeah, I am supposed to change."

I tell him to go brush his teeth, he heads to the bathroom. 30 seconds later I find him looking for DH. I ask him what he is doing - he had the sudden need to make sure he told DH something. "Um, you are supposed to be brushing your teeth." "Oh, yeah." :sad2:

I keep telling him that when I tell him to do something, that means go do it before he does anything else. He says he understands......

Are all 5 year olds like this? It is driving me nuts!

If you find what works please let me know. I'd like to pound it in my 17 yr old head also.

LOL....try having a 4 1/2 year old with a new baby  ....everything is a fight now. I think the green monster is alive and well in my toddler.....:lmao: :lmao:

I always told them what I wanted them to do at least 1/2 hour before I wanted them to do it. And praised them when they did. And if they weren't ready for karate on time, they didn't go.

Then again, they swore I graduated from Mean Mom Academy summa cum laude.......

I can remember my Mom saying the same thing about me! Now I feel like my children do not move fast enough. Guess its just par for the course. It does drive me a bit crazy but I suppose its just a taste of what I did as a kid too.

Believe me, if he is not ready to leave in time for karate, we WILL stay home. His Sensei yells at the parents who get the kids there late. :scared:

Off topic I kown but Tiggersmom2...Your baby is beautiful. My sis just had a baby Jan. 23 and Im itching to hold him. He will be half grown before I get the chance.

My Ds11 needs some pounding too! They rarely out grow it...come to think aobut it.....DH needs pounding also.

don't want to mess with an angry black belt that's for sure! My son loved karate, so the idea he would miss usually got him moving.....

Are you sure you are not talking about my two????

That's they way it is at our house too.....DS & DS pick up your toys and get ready for bed. 5 minutes later - Pick up your toys and get ready for bed. At 8:50 pm - Pick up your toys and get ready for bed. At 8:55, I go into their room and they are wrestling and NOTHING is put away.

You lie like a dog....:lmao: Seriously the only thing that works for us is to tell them to get ready at least 1/2hr before they are supposed to.

Well, it does make me feel better to see that I am not alone!

5, 25, 45. Sadly, it makes no difference.

tigmom, I've been wanting to tell you that your little baby is just adorable! Congratulations.

I have threatened to sell my dd9's nintendo ds on ebay and make her give the money to church if I catch her playing it one more time when I have asked/told her to be doing something else. I think she believes me too(as she should because I am dead serious). Tonight I told her to brush her teeth and she said "watch mom!" and she turned it off instantly and got her teeth brushed. The trick is (in my experience) to only say what you mean. When mine are thinking that they are the little queens of the house, I can usually track it back to my own laziness.

OMG I would think he is to young to have it . Maybe it's just a sign of the times that kids are growing up to fast.

You boy has whats commonly know as SHD with FVHD it usually it men at a much older age I have it now and have for several years. The doctors say there is no cure.
