we never picked a favorite; it picked us

we stayed in different resorts (started with off-site, then mods & deluxes, and DVCs) over the years since WDW opened.
among the mods, we loved CBR: the tropical feel, reggae music, beautiful grounds transported us to a carribean escape (and brought back wonderful memories of our "real" island vacations).
the GF wowed us with its elegance and luxury (i would not be surprised to see the "real" mary poppins and the banks family sitting in the lobby, listening to the piano); the poly hit all our senses, transporting us from florida directly to hawaii; the YC was incredibly beautiful in every detail, CMs who made every moment of our stay perfect, etc; at the BWI, the gorgeous lobby and interiors, views, all impressed us - add in the exciting array of activities just a few steps from the quiet elegance the resort envelops one in, and it grabbed our hearts quickly.
we have also had many wonderful times and memories at DVC resorts. each was different: AKV had the most fascinating CMs, and transported us to another country; SSR let us stay at a country manor, with a closeup view of a bald eagle and wildlife......
some, as goldilocks felt

, were just too soft or a bit too hard, perfect for some bears, but missing being the one that felt "just right" to us.
For me, a 'favorite' is the place that immediately impresses me as 'home.' It feels like someplace I've known forever, wraps me in comfort (emotional and physical) and draws me to "let down and relax" ... all from the very moment I arrive......a type of Camelot.
beautifully said....we can give up a lot, but not our "camelot" - our souls need that home which has enveloped us, given us wonderful memories of laughter and warmth, and even healed our hearts when we thought painful scars were going to be forever.
