How do you perceive yourself?

Somewhere in your profile, there is a link to your "liked" posts. You also get notifications when you get a reply or a like on something you have written, if you are logged in.

Go to the forum home page and look in the upper right hand corner. you'll see your username and below that the # of like you have.

Thanks! I have all my alerts off, so I don't get alerts for likes, but I found the number (and a list of who liked which posts).

I think I'm perceived as an emoticon obsessed, humor loving, odd duck, which is quite accurate. If I've nothing relevant to say, but something resonates anyway I "like" a lot of things (arthritis pain is the other reason for this tendency). Hopefully I come across as friendly if a bit on the scattered side. I LOVE getting to know others and hopefully that comes across! :flower3:

Sorry for the poor format, screenshot didn't work. In post #22 by JanaDee on the previous page, I clicked on "1 other person" who liked the post, and this popped up. What, pray tell, are Trophy Points? Does it mean us four posters are special (of course we are :teeth:) or does everybody get a trophy for participating?

I hope I come across as an advice-giver who likes to share ideas and information. I probably come across as curt when I'm simply just blunt (that's just how I talk in written form).

Haha....maybe I'm not "liked" as much as I thought!

Oh well, maybe 131 likes for 893 messages isn't so bad. If my math is right, that's an 85%.....maybe I should start posting more!

I have no idea what the trophy points are, either!

I recall them coming up when the new board first started and I thought that the mods/webmasters said that they were a default thing in the new system and that they were disabling them. Must have misunderstood. Off to see if I can find the thread(s).

ETA - apparently, I started a thread about them. And I am not insane, they did say that they were disabled.

I think I usually fly under the radar. I may have some good posts here and there but my name isn't probably too recognizable!

I like to think that I'm reasonable, articulate, thoughtful, polite, and reasonably knowledgeable about a subject when I post. I'm perfectly amenable to being corrected when I'm wrong and educated when necessary. I do have strong feelings about some subjects, but since they're opinions, they're never wrong. Feel free to challenge me on anything, I'm a good listener.

i feel that I am not perceived as I really am. I try to be helpful, fail often at being witty, and I think I am one of those posters who is not "liked" as much as other long-time posters.

I know who I am so that is okay and well I could be totally off. It's just the "vibe" I get from responses. I also take people at face value and may have perceived some posters in the wrong light, which is not a great quality to have. Trying to fix that.

Apparently Trophy Points were enabled again, since I just recently joined and received them.

So they're pretty much a meaningless feature auto-generated by the forum software based on some unknown criteria.

I thought perhaps that some posters set up a "thank you" that "rewards" other people for liking their posts.

I try to be respectful but, as sometimes happens with written text, it sometimes is lost. I try to be funny but, that too is sometimes lost. I can be extremely opinionated and will sometimes type an entire paragraph response only to delete it and not say anything. Sometimes that is best.
