How do you know what pins are 'worth'?

DH won some pins in a charity event. We want to keep them, but we're curious about their value just for the sake of knowing. Are there pins that are very valuable?

Have you tried pinpics.com I have found lots of my pins there and usually it gives a good description plus a going price.

Thanks. DH won a large pic of Belle with 7 pins in the bottom of the frame. It says 'Getting to know you.'
We have no clue if the pins came with the pic or the colletor he got it from assembled it.

Very well may be something they created and framed. I did a search on Pinpics for "Getting to know you" and only two items showed, neither which had anything to do with Belle.
Hard to determine values on pins, as the prices are very fluid. Really the only guide you could try is Ebay.
And truthfully if us collectors could get back what we paid, we would be very happy.
