How do you know if you have the upper berth

6586 and 6587 both sleep 3 so neither of them will have the bunk bed. I have an old copy of the Passporter book and it has a listing of all the rooms on the Magic/Wonder and how many they sleep.
THANK YOU! Thank you for looking this up for me - sorry it took me so long to reply. Bummer, it would have been fun to have the bunk but otherwise I still like the staterooms and the fact they are across the hall from each other. I think our cruise is pretty full and I'll let it lie....

You can request that they put bedrails on the bottom bunk. We did this on the Dream in October. I have a DS that is all over the bed at night and we were so glad that you can put bedrails on the sofa.

KristiMc if you can, would you please check room 6590 on the Wonder for me? I am traveling to Alaska with teen niece and granddaughter, and we did not want to share beds. Now that the 2 twin option we booked under is not available, my TA is telling me this room does not have the pull down option, but I can upgrade to a family room for 5 that does (for an additional $2,000 of course lol). Since that's not in the budget for this trip, I am hoping that Capt BJ s info is correct. TIA

According to the book it only sleeps 3. I believe that there are only rooms that sleep 3 and do not have the pull down bunk. There have been people on here that have confirmed that rooms do not have the bunks.

The $2000 that you said it would cost to upgrade to the family room. Is that the price difference now? Because if you booked awhile ago before prices went up it may not. When you upgrade/downgrade to a different category on the same sailing you get the price the room was when you originally booked - not the current price. Just wanted to throw that out there.

Years ago I had the dilemma of being booked into a room which according to the deck plans did not have the pull down, altho we were 2 adults and 2 kids. In a panic I called and was told ...

All the rooms in the category actually have the pull down. However the maximum passenger load was determined with only some of these filled. The booking system keeps track so they do not exceed their legal load.

Long funny story but I was actually able to confirm this with a cruise line VP ....

I met this VP on the bridge of MAGIC and related the story where the phone agent had actually told me "we don't show all the bunk beds in the book because we don't have enough life boats .... "; then I handed him my business card. At the time I was Commanding Officer of a Coast Guard Cutter which routinely patrolled the same area DCL cruised . . . I was in mufti at the time.

Sorry, but I believe there was a misunderstanding in that conversation and the VP was responding about about "capacity." There are staterooms that simply do NOT have the drop-down bunk and will only sleep 3 passengers; this has been confirmed by many posters who actually slept in such a room. However, it is possible that a stateroom may have the bunk but not allow 4 passengers to be booked into that stateroom (or 5 with a murphy bed). The over-riding maximum is ultimately determined by the lifeboat capacity, which is less than the total number of beds onboard. This is to allow for flexibility in booking, so families of different sizes have some options. DCL will fill all spots in a lifeboat, but they never fill all beds onboard (think Titanic).

The DCL booking system will not allow a party of 4 to be booked into a stateroom with only 3 sleeping spaces. Most stateroom categories list a range like 3-4 passengers or 3-5 passengers, but when you actually enter the number of passengers to book it will only give you options of staterooms with enough sleeping spaces for all.

Enjoy your cruise!

All rooms that take 4 will have a pull out sofa and also a upper Beth in the ceiling.

This may be true for the classic ships, but definitely not for the Dream/Fantasy. We (2A,2C) were in room 6010 (8D) on the Dream and there was the sofa bed and a murphy bed from the wall. No bed from the ceiling (much to my kids disappointment). It also made the room really tight when both beds were set up. There was literally no room to move as what little floor space there is was taken up by the beds.

It is so interesting that my TA (who is a Disney specialist and works for a reputable company) said that one of our rooms (Magic 6587) has an upper berth and then the Passporter says it doesn't. I think I will go directly to the source and call DCL. Although even then with Disney I've often gotten different answers from different people. The Magic has been around a long time that it's interesting this info isn't easier to confirm and get a straight answer on.

I have condensed a 30 minute discussion to one sentence.

but let this one thing be clear

the 'book' said our room did NOT have the pull down .... but it DID

and the VP, who was there with a group of new hire managers of the phone reps, took MANY notes and finished with "I am having an extra meeting with my folks" ... HE recognized the same issue I did ... poor reply by the person on the phone!

The pull down is almost invisible when stowed . . . you really have to know what to look for ....

What room were you in? I would like to update my book for future reference. Thanks.

According to the book I have it only sleeps 3 so it would not have the bunk.

Thanks for checking for me, KristiMc! I didn't book all that long ago, so the price the TA was quoting me probably wouldn't be much off either way - even at 1/2 that I do not want to pay that much extra for the upgrade at this point, I would rather spend the $ on excursions.

I found a site called deckplangenius that has some interesting info. It seems to list all of the outside (veranda) cabins I checked (on the Wonder, deck 6) as sleeping 3-4, which included the pull down. The inner rooms, however, state they sleep 3 - 4 depending on the category - they list the categories that sleep 3 and the categories that sleep 4. So maybe all the others DO sleep 4, but are not always able to be booked for 4 because of capacity limits. Hmmm... still have my fingers crossed because if I have to share a bed with my DGrD11 I will be taking a lot of naps to make up for lost sleep!

Bethy, I realize this was almost 2 years ago, but did your room actually have the pull down bed? We're sailing in a couple of weeks in the same room, and added my mother at the last minute to the reservation. I can share a bed with my preschooler if needed, but if it has the pull down bed then I'll put her there.

How many people do you have on the reservation? Chances are, the room has (at a minimum) the queen bed and a sofa bed. If there are 4 in your party, then there will also be the bunk bed (over the sofa).
