How do you keep track of items

I need suggestions. How do you keep track of all your pins, clothes, furniture and anythng else that we collect from VMK? When I first started it was no problem but now I am driving myself crazy looking to see what I have and where I might have placed it. Please help!

any furniture I don't use in any of my rooms goes into one of two "Extra Furniture" rooms.

I don't have that many pins so it's not too difficult to scroll through to see what I have.

Pins - I have to admit, I have a spreadsheet (thanks Speed!) that I use. Once I started recording them though, it became an obsession to be able to check them all off. Just a freindly caution. (Although I am sure there are worse obsessions in the world!)

Furniture - i have storerooms that are categorized. Clothes, well, they are just in my inventory. Posters - I have 1 of every poster I own on a wall in 1 of my rooms.

I have too much stuff to remember where it all is.

I have 3 MS word files list:
extra furniture (including how many and the name of the room it is in);
pins (how many of each kind and on which character);
costumes, hats and clothing (how many of each and which character)

I take a screen capture of each item and paste it into the proper place on the file for everything I have.

I have an Excel workbook with every item VMK has ever released and I check them off. In the workbook are about 15 spreadsheets with breakdowns of where the items are and in what quantity. Its pretty extensive actually.

I tried to keep everything recorded, but with new items, and trades my list was constantly changing. So, now I keep all my extra furniture and posters in rooms named after the area I bought them in (ie. fantasyland). As, for pins and clothes I gave up. My only record is the VMK inventory, which is easier as well since they started keeping everything together in catergories.

I store furniture in extra rooms I think I have like 8 store rooms as for pins and costumes...

I have one mule that holds all my purchased pins/costumes that I may want to later trade to someone and another that holds the excess of things like fantasyland castle retro pins and the like...

I have an MS Excel spreadsheet that lists all my items in the game and all my characters. It keeps track of who has what and how many credits each has.
I used to keep storage rooms on my main character, but have just transferred over all my extra stuff to another character who is basically nothing but storage. Also, all my storage rooms have only certain things in them and are named for those items.

So I can tell at a glance where everything is.

LOL magic, I have a charachter like that. I could never do that in any of my play charachters, he has over 150 skull rock rooms of nothing but buyables. and then I have 5 other charachters which store out of stock items, and I think I have to add another one. They are all starting to freeze up now from too many pins

I store all my extras in "Stuff" rooms by category. It makes it easy to find items when needed. I also keep a few extra of everything under my mules.

I do wish VMK would come up with a better way to store all the clothes and pins and maybe a option to sort your rooms list though.

wow, this is rather depressing. you guys have so much stuff you need to keep record of it?! it makes me realize how people out there are A WHOLE LOT richer in stuff than i am! *sigh* how do you do it? i mean i can only take so much of the fireworks game...

For the most part we have been playing a long time, I've been playing a year and half. Most of the things I have are multiples of certain items. Things I like a lot I buy at least 10 of, some to use some to trade. Things I don't like as much I buy 1 or 2. Keeping it all on your character really slows your character down and take too long to find.

Same goes for me... I started played in the last couple days of beta last May/June and muling was a big part of the game then. I think 1000 people got teh charachter number up to 1 million lol. at one point when things were cheaper, I was getting 40-50 of each new item out there. Now I only get 15-20 of each new item, sometimes less if they are more expensive. I went into October this year with almost 500k in credits. I now have about 8k lol. The threshold for freezing I think is about 1000 items in your inventory, pins, cclothes and other. But there is no way to "unload" your pins or clothes like you can with furniture - the only thing to do is "offload" it to a new charachter.

I just take DisKat or PurpleDuck with me with I shop and ask them " Do I have that already?" Its the easy way out
