How do you keep cool?

Hey all. We are heading to FL in August from RI. My kids have experienced heat and humidity 95+ temps are sporadic, so while they can deal typically they aren't accustomed to it.

How do you keep cool outside? Fans? Cooling towels? If you use the towels can you cool them, put them in the bag thing, and use them at mid-day?

We are planning on mid-day breaks to the pool but am curious to know what to use on the move.

Every morning that we head to the parks, we have a fan on our stroller and I have a small gel type ice pack that I have clipped to the bottom portion of our fan.....it is quite a bit cooler with the frozen gel pack on there. We bring lots of frozen water bottles as well.....that's it for us. Good luck, hope you have a great trip!

We are from a hot, humid climate, and it's difficult for us.
I, personally, think cooling towels are more of a hindrance.
The biggest help to us was to drink plenty of water. We brought in a big tumbler of iced water, and also several bottles of water with ziplock bags of ice in a small cooler. I also bought a clip-on fan for the stroller. Definitely don't fully cover a stroller in the heat. Make sure it is vented.

I'm from Georgia so while it's not a whole lot different than what I'm used to, I do get a tad warm (read I glow). I always have a bottle or cup of water in my hand and sip from it a lot. I seek shade whenever possible, which is not always possible in the lines. I tried one of the cooling towels but it just got on my nerves. I don't carry a bag so that keeps my body free of anything to produce extra heat. I take mid afternoon breaks and go back to the resort, either to the pool or just to the room. I was there a few weeks ago and it was so hot at the pool since shade is pretty rare I found going to the room worked better. Seek out the indoor rides for a few minutes of AC. I go to the bathroom and wet paper towels and wash off my face and neck, a lot.

I was there in August 2020, and one day at Epcot, even with drinking water constantly and using an umbrella for shade, I got sick from the heat and had to go back to the room. It was one of those rare summer days when we didn’t get our usual afternoon rain, which helps some. I will be glad when the indoor shows can all come back. They are a great way to cool down in the afternoon. I will be at MK this Thursday, and the temps are supposed to be 90 with little chance for rain. I am going to go early and try to get most of my rides done, then I have an ADR for a late lunch at 2:00. Knowing myself as I do, I am going to guess I will call it a day after lunch and just go back to the resort. Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate!

We went in August last year. We brought cooling fans and the things that tie around your neck with the water beads. They were ok. DH bought one of the cooling towels the next to last day, and man! I wish we had bought that sucker the first day! It was awesome! We just wet it in the bathrooms as needed. And as it warmed up, take it off and shake it out a bit and it would cool right back down. We bought one for everyone for our upcoming June trip.

Cool wraps for your neck. Or even freeze a wet rag & keep in in a Ziploc in your bag. Continued refilling of your YETI / water bottle with free ice water. Stroller fans, plural. And always use SPF! We love facial sticks for our kids, over any spray or cream. Kept them in our lunch bag so they were cool & felt good when re-applying mid-day which is easier on the kids.
