How do you handle it?

The stress that is. How do you cope? I am looking for some strategies because I keep on getting over whelmed with this whole thing. Let me tell you about what I am worried about and maybe some of you can relate.

I am worried about the fact that I have four children in my wedding and how they will behave on that day. I know that I can't control it but it concerns me non-the-less. DF and I also do not want them attending the reception so I am concerned about how they will get picked up after the ceremony and whether there will be time to include them in any pictures.

My wedding is on a Sunday so that means that my Hair person will have to come to my house because she can not open her store. So she will be here to do everyone's hair, the make-up person will be here, the photographer and my bridal party with their children (maybe not the ring bearers but thats another concern). My house is going to be nutty! My issue is that my house is not very big. I just feel like it is going to be so hectic that day and I would so prefer that it not be.

I also have no idea who sets up the flowers in the church and who decorates the reception hall. Does any one know how that works (I am getting married at home in NJ)?

On top of all that - there is preparing my house for the day and preparing to move out! AAAAAHHHH!

I am just so stressed and I have no idea how to stop it! I want to be able to relax.

I need pointers from all of you who have been there or are there right now.

I go shopping when I'm stressed :) Not the greatest thing for a girl on a budget, but it helps me think :rolleyes1

I wouldnt worry about the kids behavior, it'll add character to the wedding :) My ring bearer will be 18 months old. I dont even know if he'll walk himself down the aisle... I'm sure he'll be entertaining though! My wedding planner says that kids are unruly for the rehearsal, but when they get in formal clothing they're good as gold on the wedding day.

Can you get ready in the church instead of at your house? Or maybe you could have everyone set up outside your house, and only bring them inside for hair or pictures.

Not sure who decorates the church. Are there any volunteers working in the church office that you could call and ask? I'm sure they would know.

You're definitely not the only one who's stressed. I'm remodeling one house and trying to sell another (and all the moving!), also my DF is trying to start a business on top of everything! Venting on the disboards is good for me, everyone here can relate to what you're going thru. If all else fails go have a glass of wine and a bubble bath :)

Vent away! Also, see if you can break your worries up into manageable chunks, like Today: Worry about house being crowded; Tomorrow: Worry about kids in wedding.... Or just post on here so we can help you feel better!

Usually the florist sets up the flowers in the church and decorates the reception hall. Are you doing your own flowers? Can your family members do the decorating for you? Maybe everyone could pitch in the night before to put out the things that won't wilt overnight?

Do you have a wedding planner? If not have you considered getting one? I would leave it all on them if at all possible.

Maybe you can send your bridesmaids, misc. people that need hair and makeup to a salon somewhere to have their hair done so that just you and your hair dresser are at the house etc? There has to be some places open on Sunday?

Everything will work out fine!

About the children, I had 4 in my wedding as well.
Three girls ages 4, 6, and 6 and my ring bearer whose 10.

I agonized over if they would all behave and be perfect angels, and honestly, I didn't glance at any of them once during the ceremony.

I worried so much about every single detail, and when the day finally came, it was like I was in a daze and nothing could bring me back down to earth.

When we did our at home reception last Friday, we had a grand total of 30 kids out of close to 200 people. We set up a kids table with those sticky foam crafts and coloring books, and there wasn't a peep out of any of those kids all night long. Plus, it kept them off the dance floor.

Leading up to the day it's really easy to stress yourself out and worry about everything, but once the day finally arrives, for me anyways, it was like everything faded out except for DH and myself.
