if you are staying at WDW, how do you get to Universal if you aren't renting a car? Plan on staying at WDW resort but visiting Universal 2 diff days. Are there buses that will get you there and back? TIA

Ive been researching this for a while now as will be in same situation in September!

Public buses are possible, but from what i understand you'll need to go from your resort via the buses to DTD westside, then take the Lynx no.50 to SW from the Westside stop, then switch again opposite SW to another bus (or possibly the i-ride, i forget) and up and on to US/IOA. Obviously this saves a lot of money but is gonna eat up a lot of vacation time!

We're planning on bussing to Seaworld as that seems quite straightforward, but grabbing the Mears shuttles from outside the resort to get to US, IOA and also to meet up for the Busch shuttle. They were about $15-18 pp both ways last time i was there.

I know that Sunray transportation does the trip-I think it's $60. round trip. We used them for RT from MCO airport to WDW and the service was outstanding!:goodvibes

Besides the public buses which may take you forever, a cab would actually be the best way to go. Should only cost you about $20. They are very abundant around Downtown Disney or you can call and have them pick you up at your resort (front desk can give you a number).

A taxi seems easy, but wonder if they can fit 3 adults, 3 kids?

i go from one park to the other also.

the last 5 years, i take town car service.
years prior, i have tried the mears bus, taxis, car rentals......

town car service is the best.
you can determine the time you want to go and get picked up.
the mears schedule is limited and you have to sign up at your resort concierge in the lobby the night before to claim a seat on the shuttle bus.

taxis are ok if you go before or after rush hour. time in the cab plus mileage equals the total bill for that ride

you do a car rental then you have to pay for parking.

do the town car service, it is worth it

We just did this last week. The cab fare from Disney All Star Music to Universal was $23 each way. We had three in the cab.

Good to know!
We will be taking a cab from MCO to Universal, then from Universal to WDW (Pop) a few days later. The taxi fare estimator said it would be around $29.00 each trip.

I'm going in Sept. and thought a lot about this. In order to maximize my 2 days at Universal I'm staying at Doubletree which is within walking distance. If I stay at WDW it would be 1-1.5 hour just one way by bus to get there and forget about getting up early to do that. Taxis add up, it'll be $40+ per day, so why not stay near Universal. I'll be checking out on the second day and leaving my luggage with the bell service and then take a yellow cab to WDW after my last day at Universal. This way I can unpack, settle in at Music and be ready for the parks next morning. Make sure you get a Mears yellow cab, I heard the some other taxis charge way more !

My family doesn't do schedules very well, nobody wears a watch. We just decided to rent a car. They came over to Pop Century and delivered it. It was no problem to drive over to U/IOA and park. When we got back, we drove straight to the rental place and they drove us back to Pop Century. No hassle at all. It wasn't too outrageous because we had our discounts, AAA etc. to help out.

Just a note here, WDW will not be too forthcoming on how to get to U/IOA because that IS their competition so don't be upset about it. Just about about car rentals and they won't lose their smile:rolleyes1
