My family and I are going home on 4-11-02 thru 4-20-02 to BW. We requested a 1 bedroom preferred view first floor pool side. I made my reservation on 5-21-01. I thought I read somewhere to call a few days in advance to make sure you get your request. Who do I call? And is they anything else I can do to make sure I get my request, seeing I made the ress along time ago. Any help would be grateful. Thanks :)

My experience says that if you make your requests at time of reservation is all you need to do. We have received our requests each time that way. There was a post by a Room Controller a while back that stated DVC rooms are assigned based on ressie date, which may be different then a regualr room.

You can call or fax your requests to the room controller (front desk) 5 days before, confirming your original requests when you made the reservation. But there is no guarantee that this will help get your request. Requests are not guaranteed. I have stayed twice at BWV and made my reservation both times at 11 months. Once I got what I wanted, once I didn't. It all depends on if someone is checking out of the room you want that day.

The only time we put in our requests is when we reserve. Have always gotten what we requested.

The only times we've gotten our requests were when we faxed a very polite letter asking for our preferred view. We also followed up the fax by actually mailing a copy of it to the Room Controller the same day (Priority Mail, so it would get there before we did!) Of course, it could all be coincidence, but each time we did this, we were very pleasantly surprised.

Another consideration might have been that we were not visiting during Disney's busiest times, either.

you are asking for a pool view - the main pool view is the most (or seemed to be) of their preferred view - so you should not have a problem - now if you were asking for the broadwalk that would be difficult.

I think most would agree that there are some rooms that are a better fit for them than others.

Location...maybe near the elevators if someone in your group is not hardy enough for the journey to the far reaches of the resort. ;)

View....some may put a premium on this and want a Boardwalk view or a view of Illuminations from their room.

Others, like me, don't care all that much about the view. Nice to have but doesn't spoil our trip if we don't have a wonderful view or location.

It seems that some get very disappointed if their requests are not met. I always think of it as a "it would be nice" thing and don't pin my hopes on the room requests.

To each his/her own. :)

yes it does - to me anyway - when I didn't ask for a view at OKW - we got no view - behind a bunch of bushes behind a hill on the golf course - no view whatsoever.

at VWL I got this view

at BWV there are some views I happen to like more than others - I don't like the main pool view because I have seem it more than I like - I LOVED the Broadwalk view but I only got that once. Now I generally request either near the elevators (when mother is traveling with me) or near the water - standard view - the one near the water is great!

So I have learned even in a new resort make sure you put in the view request you want - MS really wants you to be happy so they try to fill the request. I have learned that is better to request than not - but that is me - you experience may be completely different.
