off of clothes? I got chewing gum on my jeans while at DW and I got most of it off, but the rest I couldn't and it is dried on now.

Is there anything that can take it off? I hate to lose these jeans.

Paint thinner or turpentine works like a charm. If you don't have anything like that, rub it on the back with an ice cube and scrape it with a table knife while you're doing it.

Thank you tar heel. I think I have some turpentine down in the basement. I will try that tomorrow.

Peanut butter, I would think Paint thinner or turpentine would eat through the clothes

Oh, I never thought of that. Maybe I'll try the peanut butter first. Thanks, happygirl.

I agree with the peanut butter. Smear a glob on then scrape it around with a dull knife or your finger nail. Then use oxyclean to get the greasy stain out.
Or try goo gone. I used that once for gum that got heated into the fabric from the dryer. Again, oxyclean to get the greas out.

Purel hand sanitizer (though probably any brand would work) got dried pine tree sap out of my jeans. Couldn't hurt to try! I soaked it in the sanitizer for about a day, then washed on hot.

You can use turpentine or banana water, cleaning, general paint store

You would think wrong. My son is an artist and uses this stuff all the time to removing gooing substances. I'd test it on a fragile fabric, but jeans aren't usually made of fragile fabric. I've used it for sticker residue, too.

funny, the old farmers almanac on facebook said that vinegar takes off gum last week... so maybe try that

Carbona makes a product that takes off gum - it is part of a series of stain removers they put out. In the laundry aisle, it will be in a tiny yellow bottle about 3 inches high, and I think it is actually called gum remover.

It got gum out of my DH's wide wale cords that had been ground in and you can't even tell it was there. I would caution against peanut butter - I know it has technically removed gum for some people, who have then ended up with a grease stain from the peanut butter on the fabric instead!

I still woiuldn't use paint thinner or Turpentine on clothes.

I would be afraid the turpentine or paint thinner could change the color of the jeans.

Throw the jeans in the freezer and then scrape off the gun.

PB works, but then you end up with grease stains on your clothes. :)

Thank you everyone for your suggestions. I tried putting my jeans in the freezer at our vacation home and just got cold gum. LOL

I did try peanut butter and it did get it off. I had to use a sharper knife because it was so dried in. But I threw them in the wash and they are fine.

Thank you all again. You saved my jeans!
