How do you 'gamble' when you visit Las Vegas?

Do you spend all your allotted money in one casino?

Or visit Multiple casinos and spend less money in each?

We are visiting Las Vegas soon and play only the slot machines.

Video poker. I look for machines with high payout tables and try to use perfect strategy. I concentrate my play in the casino where I like to stay, join their slot club, always play with my card in the machine, and end up getting my room (and sometimes food and beverage) comped. I play quarter machines, but look for 3- and 5-play games. I never spend more than my budget if I lose it in a day ($500/day, which is usually enough to keep me in play, but not always).

Sometimes if a new casino that I like opens and has a good sign-up bonus, I'll give them some play to get "on the list."

I'll throw a $20 in a slot machine, play till it's gone or I'm at $50 and then go do something else. Spent a week and dropped $100 total. It was my first trip and I wanted to see a bunch of the casinos.

Usually, we'll bounce around to a number of casinos. Half the fun (to me, at least) is seeing various casinos and not just staying at one. Recent trips, I'll land at one for a while at night and play a couple hours of poker (or a tournament), as that's my game of preference.

I don't. I'm all about a sure thing in Vegas like drunkeness, lewdness, gluttony and avarice - basically bar hopping, clubbing, fine dining and shopping.

Once about 10 years ago I spent $20 at a slot machine in a Fremont casino with some friends. I sucked. Never again.

I've only been once for work and didn't gamble. I played Pokemon Go on my phone when the people I was with did any gambling.

Haven't been in 14 years but we usually stayed downtown at the Golden Nugget and when gambling I hit mostly video poker at the various casinos down there. Didn't play the tables then which is all I do now at our local casinos.

Have fun!

Only been to Las Vegas twice. The last time was in 2004 for 8 days as a chaperone for a High School baseball team playing at a tournament there. I gambled, and lost $20.
First time was for a weekend in 1982 meeting family from the midwest and I think my wife and I budgeted $100 for both of us, and I suspect we lost that.
Not big gamblers and our trips to Las Vegas were for other reasons.

We just go around to various casinos. After being there enough times we know which ones we generally prefer overall. I play slots my husband does video poker or stadium blackjack.

If my husband wants to do stadium blackjack TI has been his fav to go with the low buy ins. Sometimes I do well at TI other times not. Mandalay Bay is one of our favs for the casino atmosphere but I don't do well there generally speaking. Last time we went I did okay in Caesar's Palace and Encore but never had good luck in Paris. It's been a few trips but I remember my husband doing well enough in Cromwell.

Your off-strip properties will have better odds and we have done over several trips gone to different casinos nearby to explore.

It may seem tedious but even if you only plan to go to Vegas once I'd sign up for the players cards as you can get free play depending on the casino for signing up. When I gamble it's usually $20 at a time unless I'm combining with a free play. I prefer to do games that offer Free Games as part of its thing as that increases my odds of getting more money should I get the Free Games. I've only played it once or twice but I see news stories of people winning off of the Buffalo slot machine. Overall we don't actually gamble much while in Vegas

I am not a big slot player. But if I were, I'd simply look around for a machine that looks like fun and has a good potential payoff but one that you're not feeding boku bucks at a time into. Always look at the per pull cost, not the denomination on the machine. Penny slots can cost you $5 $10 or more a pull to cover all the lines. You'd be better off going to a higher denomination that costs you a total less per pull. But not all slots are set equally so if one is ice cold, try another. I'd probably casino hop rather than just do one. Also if it's on a progressive Island, look at what the progressive has built up to.

I do not gamble or see shows in vegas. I have no interest in "playing" with losing money and I live near NYC so I can see good shows there. In Vegas, I usually enjoy eating and people-watching. There's some good shopping there too that I sometimes indulge in.

99% video poker, very occasionally slots, never more than $20 at once. First time in Vegas we were there for six weeks and kept up with our totals out of curiosity. Came out ahead by $65, which we then blew at the Criss Angel store. Would have made bank, as I actually hit a royal flush once, but unfortunately I was playing nickels at the moment waiting for the cocktail server to come around. So it only came out to like 30 bucks :(

We like to visit various casino's when in Vegas. I agree as mentioned above it is the bet size that matters, not the denomination of the machine. They might call them 'penny' slots, but in reality the amount you bet per spin is probably higher then the $.25 slots. Depends also on how much money you are playing with and how long you plan to gamble. If you have $20 to gamble, there is no way you will be able to gamble for very long. You will also find people that CLAIM they win a lot, but rarely do they talk about how much they actually spent. If you started with $200 and leave with $50, then you LOST $150 no matter how much you might have 'won' along the way.

If you want some laughs, check out the various YouTube videos where people talk about their 'methods' of winning more. Most are just nonsense or say things that have NOTHING to do with increasing your winning chances. No one has found any secret tips/tricks/methods to insure they win more often then anyone else. You can't tell by looking at any slot machine when it is/isn't going to pay off.

Also wondered if the casino underwrites those expensive/high-end shops around the casino? In the times I have been gambling, I have never seen any customers in those stores and seems like more advertisement for trendy shopping boutiques.

I haven't had to go to LV in quite a number of years. I've had to go in the past for business conventions or seminars. Also 1 destination wedding. :rolleyes2

When I did go, did not gamble. Zero enjoyment with knowingly losing money. I've enjoyed the shows, especially the Cirque shows, several multiple times. And some of the dining is okay.

I'm more of a shopper than a gambler...DH had a lot of fun entering poker tournaments. He would be able to play for a couple of hours for the entrance fee. If he were at a table he'd blow through the same amount of money in 30 mins.

I don't. I only use Las Vegas as a convenient airport to get out to Zion NP or other scenic areas. Not really interested in casinos, crowds, or gambling. I'd rather be hiking.
That's us also. We stayed one night before taking off for the dam, Zion, Grand Canyon, etc. Walked around a little in the evening, then got the heck out of there the next morning. No interest in shows or gambling.

We like to visit the various hotel/casinos and look at the decor, eat in the restaurants and look in the shops. We might stop to gamble if we like the atmosphere or see a specific machine we want to try. I only play slots. DH tried a craps machine on our last trip and really liked it. It's the kind where several players have their own screen and take turns being the shooter. He was up $200 at one point, then he dropped back down to even and left. We play slots most often in Lake Tahoe at the California/Nevada state line. It has a small row of casinos and is much more laid-back than Vegas. I usually have a limit in mind that I'm willing to lose. If I win close to $100, I'll convince myself it's time to stop.
