How do you figure out when spring breaks are next year? My family wants to do a trip in April or May, but I don't want to be there for Spring break. I know that Easter is at the end of March, so if we go in the end of April should we miss all the spring breakers?

We would like to try BCV, do you think there is any chance at the 7 month window for this time?

Thanks to anyone who answers:love:

All schools will vary.....but I've found that March is College spring break and April into early May is regular school break. Out of all the weeks the end of April may be your best bet.

check out the DVC points.. when they are very high it is spring break when they are low it is off season...

I personally LOVE Walt Disney World over Mother's Day. It's beautiful and warm and not too crowded.

In NY we have a break in March for Easter and then towards the end of April for Passover. Not sure which is considered SPRING BREAK but I know lots of people who are heading down for one or the other depending on their religious beliefs

We are in Georgia. A large portion of the public school systems in our state take spring Break in the first half of March. Some go closer to Easter but the majority seems to be in early March. I am sure that there are some counties that go a bit later than Easter.

We get our of school for the year in mid-May thus we have earlier Spring Breaks. I dont know statistically that Georgia does alot to increase the Spring Break capacity at WDW but there does seem to be a mass exodus to WDW for our breaks. Our large university systems seem to also favor the mid-March time frame.

For 2008 our break is March 8-16. We were at WDW on March 8-10 of 2007 and it was very pleasant, mild weather, mild crowds. We will be going to HHI this year for the break week.

You don't have a lot to worry about from families around here....Anne Arundel County here in Md. doesn't even get a spring break...just 3 days off at Easter. :sad2:

The week before and after Easter is "prime" but colleges and school districts have Spring Break pretty much anytime after mid-Febuary and into early May.

I think there is always a chance for BCV, even at the most popular times, but I would suggest booking "home" and switching just in case, consider if you are willing to wait list, and calling right at seven months - don't procrastinate until six months out.

I don't know about the U.S. school boards, but the Canadian school boards have websites. Ours has already posted all of the school holidays and P.A. days for 2007/2008. Our break is March 10-14/08, with a P.A. day on March 7 the Friday before it starts, so I'm considering leaving on the 6th to get the jump on the crowds. That way my ds will only have to miss one day of school.

The problem in the U.S. is that schools are controlled at a local level. My school district and the school district next to me (less than a mile from my house) have different calendars and had different Spring Breaks this year. There are THOUSANDS of school districts in the U.S. and if you want to avoid crowds, you'd need to figure out when the majority of them are out.

If you are looking to figure out when YOUR kids have off, its easy to look at your own districts' calendar.

Our school district's spring break is scheduled for March 31-April 4 in 2008. Not that there will be a general exodus from our county to WDW though.

thanks for the replies!!:)

it looks like if we go at the end of April, beginning of May we will be in good shape. my kids aren't in "school" yet. (my 3 yr old will be in nursery school), so I don't have to worry about when they are off.

my hubby and I just bought DVC and are taking our first trip this October, but it is really cool to be planning the next trip before we even take this one. Our family thinks we are nuts:banana: maybe we are

I think you will be fine planning that time, and we LOVED the flower and garden festival this year. I plan to make early May an annual trip. In fact, I think I enjoyed it more than early December!!

Schools in NJ and the surrounding areas have spring break late next year. The week of April 19th 2008.
