cats mom said:True, she left her child in a public place and the child in this incident was at home, but if you've read through all the responses you'll know that several of us have reported that our homes have been broken into. I guess that tends to change your opinion as to how safe it is for a baby to be left alone for 3+ hours, even if it is in their own home.
Exactly. A car with windows and an awake baby in a public place, enclosed in a car with no air, is miles away from a baby sleeping in their own crib, in their own home, in a presumably safe neighborhood with no history of drive by baby snatchings. It doesn't change any opinion.
I have no history of tall tales, dramatic posts, or outrageous stories. I have no reason to make this up and obviously from the responses, it's not even unanimously viewed as an issue, so it's apparently not inconceivable. I stated the facts and my view of it, but never attacked anyone or created trouble for anyone. I have nothing to defend and nothing to gain. It was just an incident I encountered, and I was looking for opinions on it.... primarily to gage how I would handle it in the future. While I still feel uncomfortable with their choice and I personally think it's unsafe, obviously a relatively large segment of society feels comfortable with it (other than the hour oversight at the end) , and for this reason, I will refrain from judging or commenting on it in the future (other than maybe a friendly reminder should they be distracted for a long period of time). Everyone has their methods of parenting, and some of mine may be in stark contrast to yours. When there is a division of sorts where a significant amount of people stand on either side, and there are no unlawful acts occurring, then so be it.... I don't want anyone to judge me, and I try to keep from doing the same to them.
