How do you decorate your suitcase?

I sponged some mickey heads on the sides and I have some multicolored striped ribbon I tied on all the handles too :thumbsup2 Nobody will mistake my luggage for theirs. Trust me :rotfl2:

Add me to the duct tape crowd:thumbsup2

I thought my wife was going to choke me when she saw what I did to our nice new luggage!:lmao:

For the last 15 years I've always used Disney Key Chains with my favorite Character. Each of us in the family have our own Character and it helps stand out from a distance that thats our Bag. We just hook it on the metal part of the Handle. Have never had a problem with it at all.

Nestle has a site w/ free bookmarks. I made "luggage tags" out of these. I cut them out, assembled, and laminated. I then punched a hole it the top and tied it on w/ 2 different colors of yarn. These "tags" are pretty big as far as tags are concerned and are easy to spot. DH loves them.

I used fabric glitter paint and just made a lot of squiggles of different colors all over the bags. On one, I wrote in big letters "HERE I AM" and "PICK ME!" :rotfl: It emabarasses my DH too, but at least we spot them!!

I get the gift wrap pre-made curled ribbon from target or wal-mart and tie on the handles, we have black with pink polka-dots, pink with white polka dots, shiny hot pink with silver under side and shinny lime green with silver under side. It was eaiser than buying rolls and curling it, and it gave more variety.

I live near New Orleans and every year DH and I go to the French Quarter and the flea market-I fell in LOVE with a suit case(even though I did NOT need it!)-it is bright red with white polka dots and black trim and zippers-Minnie Mouse! We used it for DL for the first time last month and it was definitely noticeable!! It was only $30 and it is a big version. Not the best made but I LOVE it!! I want a Minnie Mouse embroidered on it. My DH just rolled it down the street-rolling his eyes along with it smiling at people staring at him with it(we brought 1 suitcase)

And thanks for the ideas about stamping Mickey on our plain suitcases-I am doing that on my kids suitcases before WDW trip next year!

I know of some self adhesive luggage labels. Actually they are like the old fashioned luggage labels of different places you've visited. They are embroidered however. Very nice designs. You can find them in some souvenir shops or at wonderfulworldpatches.com

I bought new luggage last year at CAA (AAA) - it is bright pink and white plaid and sure stands out when it comes out the baggage chute! Can't miss it!

we have the same idea as some of the other posters - each person in our family chooses 3 different colors of yarn and makes it into a braid that gets attached to one of the zippers. i have also used keychains to attach to some of the zippers as well as colorful luggage tags. these are all usually pretty easy to spot in a sea of black suitcases. if you want you could also put stickers on the suitcases, but they might get yucky after a while.

I used neon fabric paints. I wrote all over my bags the places we've visited.

Front and center I put: Do NOT Touch

I also put "Last name Only" really really big on the backside of each suitcase.

(Can you tell we had one go missing once?)

The bag I check most often is a black pleather duffle-style bag, so it already stands out somewhat from all the hard luggage. I also have a Godzilla keychain on it. He protects it from luggage thieves. RAWR! :thumbsup2

We have dark green luggage, definitely doesn't stand out. So we tied 2 pieces of bright blue and bright green ribbon to the handles and on the side zippers. (Because you never know how your suitcase will come out, we wanted it in 2 spots). Worked great, we spotted our luggage right away and super easy. Also easy to remove, if we wanted.

I tie a couple of bright bandanas (in unusual colors, like orange and yellow) to the handles.

You can find a huge variety of bandanas in different colors at places like Walmart for less than $1 each.

I was just going to say the same thing as ZoZo LOL. Love those bandanas at WM!:goodvibes
We used different colored pirate ones and some with flames. Those definitely stand out in a crowd of suitcases.
Unfortunately though on my solo trip last May someone who was handling them along the way decided they liked them because they weren't on my luggage when I got home. We didn't even see my luggage on the carousel because we were looking for the bandanas. Next time I fly I'm going to use a needle and some heavy duty thread and run a few stitches through the knot.
We have also used bright colored scrubby sponges like the kind you use in the shower. Those stand out really well.

I usually tie quilting fabric in an unusual pattern around the handle.

I bought some luggage spotters for DH and I. I got the leopard one and I bought DH a red one. You put them around the handle of your luggage, and they have a tag inside for your information. Here's a picture of mine...
