We fry ours. We have been doing that for about 15 years now. I wouldn't know how to cook it any other way!

My brother insisted on Frying one last year for the first time.
(My mother made a backup turkey in the oven! heheh)

BEST. TURKEY. EVER.

We fried another one on Father's day! heheh

We're frying again this year, but since fried turkey isn't the best for leftovers, my mom will roast a smaller turkey with the stuffing and what-not..for leftovers and everything.

I just bring the desserts though!

Roasting in the oven - brining it first of course, that's the secret!

It would be fun to do a side by side taste test. Of course I'm not going to take the time to roast, grill and fry a turkey to find out which one is the best, but it would be fun to see.

Always in the oven using a bag. Cuts down on the cooking time, and makes the skin so crispy and goooooooood!

I've never had it deep fried. I'm sure I'd love it.

Oh, yeah, if you like crispy skin, frying's the way to go. There was a near brawl over the skin here last year - LOL

I turn to my wife and ask her to make a turkey.

She uses the oven and I think she covers it with foil at first and removes it towards the end for browning.

Our bird is in the bag in the oven. I would love to try fried turkey, but I'm neither brave nor patient enough to try that.:D

We brine it overnight and then bake it in the oven.

We watched the Alton Brown show too and its really easy to do, don't be nervous. :)

Its always really good! ::yes::

I voted Grill. I'm not sure if grilling is the same as BBQ, but I BBQ mine. Stuffed and covered with cheese cloth soaked in white wine and butter! I don't wait for Thanksgiving either. Have it 3-4 time/year!

keep the faith!

I bake it in a bag also. Years ago, I used to just bake it but have been using the bag for the last 15 years or so. It comes out juicy on the inside and crispy on the outside and never have to worry if the turkey is fully cooked inside.

I do add a tablespoon of flour and shake it around in the bag before putting in the turkey.

There is a barbecue place in town that will smoke a turkey for you.

THAT is the best turkey I've ever had.

But the last few years, have not as my turkey comes out dry. One year I brined it, and BOY was that a GREAT turkey, learned about that HERE on the DIS Board!::yes:: Will do that again this year, but with a smaller turkey.:p

It sounds like you may have overcooked it. The cooking time is much shorter with a bag.

Bake it in the oven...same way as my Mom and Grandmother have always done! :)

Put it in one of those reynolds cooking bags. Comes out moist and delicious!

I have a HUGE Nesco cooker that I now use. I got it several years ago and thats all I use now for turkeys and roasts. I used to use the cooking bags until it came out so much better in the Nesco.
