How do you clean your braided rug(s)?

I have some braided runners(wool) that I'd like to "freshen up". They are far from filthy but could use a little cleaning.

What method(s) might work well on them?

I don't know if this is the best way......but we have several braided rugs in the house, and in summer I take them outside and wash them with the hose and soap........then let them dry outside.
