How do you clean silk plants?

Craft stores like Michaels or Hobby Lobby sell a spray that "melts" the dust away. Just take them outside, spray them down and the dust disappears. It is the greatest invention!

I wash them in the sink with a little dish soap and water like I would if washing dishes. Rinse well and lay in the drainer to dry.

I'm obviously very tired. I kept reading and thinking, "Why doesn't someone tell this poor woman NEVER to get silk pants wet? TAKE THEM TO THE DRY CLEANERS!"

Like Emily Litella...never mind.

My eyes are tired too and I thought the very same thing initially. Who wears silk pants?

Oh, you guys scared me - I thought I made a big goofy typo!! :rotfl2:

Although it would be rather weird to clean silk pants by "dusting them with a soft paintbrush." :lmao:

I put them in a trash bag with salt and shake 'em up. But melting off the dust with spray sounds better and fun, too. ::yes::

I clean small ones with the kitchen sink sprayer and drip dry.

I take one tree out to the lanai and go at it with a blow dryer set on "cool". My cats try to climb the other tree regularly and knock it over, so it gets dusted that way. :thumbsup2

Wow, I have always just vacuumed them off, but I sure want to find this magic spray! I wonder if I can find it online? Anyone know? :confused3
:hippie:

Ha, I didn't realize they got dusty. My one cat likes to chew on them as if they were real plants. That could be why the leaves seem to get smaller and smaller as time goes on.

If the silks are small enough...put them in a ziploc bag with salt, close and shake...cleans them right off. If it's too big you could use one of the new 2 gallon size bags. When I was kid, one of my best friend's mom was a florist and this is how she did it. Also one of those home and garden parties suggests cleaning their silks this way.

No suggestions although the one's you have received sound fine. I just want to say that every time I see this topic I see; "How do you clean SILK PANTS!" ;)
