How do we go about getting an Annual Pass?

We will be going for an extended trip and we're thinking about getting Annual Passes. What do we need to do to get them? Do we wait to get them at the parks? Is there a way to get them in advance? And what do the passes look like? Do they have your picture on them? Help!

You can purchase your APs at most Disney Stores, on the WDW website, or by calling 407-WDISNEY. You will receive vouchers that must be activated when you get there. There are a number of places to activate your vouchers, but the primary ones include the ticket and guest relations windows at the 4 theme parks as well as the guest relations office at DownTown Disney. I don't believe that your picture will be on the passes, but you will have to be set up for a finger scan. If you are undecided about whether APs are the right thing economically, I would encourage you to go to allearsnet.com, where they have a good breakeven analysis of various types of ticket media relative to APs.

APs are about credit card size, made out of heavy duty Tyvek paper and have your name and AP expiration date on the back of it underneath a magnetic strip.

One thing with APs, when you exchange your vouchers for the actual APs, you will be asked to produce a photo ID. Driver's license should be sufficient. If you lose your tickets or accidentally wash them in your laundry, all you'll need to do is go to guest relations at any of the parks and DTD and show your ID. They'll reissue one in less than 10 minutes.

I got my AP at the Orlando airport (MCO) Disney Store after I got off the plane. Quick and easy. It was already activated so I could just start using it right away.

One quick note - the biometric scan is done at the turnstiles. The first time, it RECORDS your bimoetric number. Subsequent times, it looks at the record and matches your scan. :)

The airport Disney Store has worked out great for us. We've purchased AP's there 3 times, and we've still always gotten to the baggage claim area before our luggage.
