How do we get 1st floor at OKW 1br

We are going to OKW in the Summer and need a one bedroom, my mother in law is going for part of the 12 days and we need a first floor. We don't need a handicapped room but she cannot go up and down stairs. Any suggestions?

just tell ms what you say - they will try to put you in first floor or elevators - but no guaranteeds.

on first floor doesn't mean she won't be walking alot!

I would also request a wheelchair - then remember to pick it up. this is a pushing type - so unless someone in the party wants to push her along - you might consider renting a scooter from an outside company.

You can request a 1st floor accomodation...but we aware that many 1st floor units at OKW are handi-access...depending upon availability and resort occupany, in order to fullfil your first floor request, you may be placed in a handi-access room.

My mom is in the same situation. I requested a 1st floor, nonsmoking, close to busstop for medical reasons and even had the confirmation state for medically challanged guest. I requested day by day at 11 months out. When we checked in at 6:00pm, the cm was immediately flustered because the room was not blocked out. All they had left was a third floor n/s or a 1st floor smoking. Neither was acceptable, but we ended up taking the third floor and moving the next morning. Moral is , when they say nothing is guaranteed , they mean it. I would hate to think that my mom and other seniors, would stop coming to WDW because they are afraid the random room location they could get would be too physically difficult for them. Room requests should be guaranteed at booking,. That way you would know what locations are or are not available for you and you could make an informed choice or try different dates or resorts. Can you tell this is a big beef for me ? I remember when I could call before I left home to check in and have my packet and keys waiting for me when I checked in.
