Sorry if this is haphazardly composed but I'm really not sure how they go.

How do they happen and how and for what, are they kept?

Granted, the cruise I'm hoping for isn't even a certainty yet if at all. But Iw as wondering how they get organized. Does each TZ keep one master list? Does DCL?

I've never gotten on a wait list before but do you think anyone TAs of DCL might maintain a wait list for a Hawaiian cruise should it happen? Seriously, I know nothing about waitlists except I know they keep them for cruise dates not announced yet and the new ships...right? SO confused but would like to get in on a 2012 Hawaiian cruise should they do them. :boat::boat:

THANKS DISers!

The answer is it depends....and what are you talking about specifically.

DCL maintains wait lists for suites--you fax the dates you would like to sail to inventory control and when they dates open up you will be contacted by them.

DCL maintains wait lists of people who want to move from late to early dining--you or TA contact DCL.

AFTER boarding, Palo maintains a wait list of people who want reservations....Guest Services does the same thing for Tea with Alice, wine tastings, etc.

Some TAs are currently keeping lists of clients who want certain 2011 sailings--the Panama Canal crossing of the WOnder, the maiden voyage of the Dream, a sailing on the first season of the Dream, etc. These are handled individually thru those TAs.

Currently no info has been released for 2011....it is due out in September with bookings starting in October 2009.

And, not sure if DCL is even keeping a list for the new ship...at one time they said ABSOLUTELY NO WAITLIST through them for the new ship. Not sure if that has changed. As mentioned several TA are keeping lists for their clients to help in booking when dates and itineraries are opened for booking.

I think Lisa (lbgraves) may have some more updated knowledge.

GOSH. I knew I wasn't saying it right. :headache: If anyone finds a brain out there, would you return it? I know it's in bad shape and quite used, but I can still use it. I meant for future sailings. I had read that thread about the announcement on Sept 11th. (interesting date they chose), which is why I got thinking becuase I knew lists were kept by someone, didn't know who, for things like the Panama Canal and possibly the inaugural of the Dream. It was all so sketchy for me.
THANKS for clearing it up!

There have been confirmations received by DISers who faxed IC regarding the first cruise for the Dream as well as the PC repo for the Wonder in staterooms other than suites as early as 4-6 months ago so DCL has returned to their pre-January 2007 policy of accepting all waitlist requests if you fax IC with your information. Their fax number is posted in the DIS DCL FAQ thread that is linked in my signature.

What DCL will do is start calling the people on their waitlist in the order the requests were received and confirm the information regarding room category, names and get the method of payment for the deposit. After bookings officially open, DCL will let everyone know their booking information with a confirmation number. This has been done a couple days before the bookings open so that DCL's IC is ready to roll the reservations into the system when it opens. That is how most people got the cat 12s that were open on the TAs for 2010.
