DD12 wears a 5.5-6 womens. Can anyone tell me what size Ugg she would wear? I don't want her to know she's getting them:)

Uggs run a little large, so she would probably wear a size 5 in women's.

However, kid's sizes are way cheaper than adult sizes in Uggs. I read a thread here once that showed the conversion from adult sizes to kid's sizes. Maybe someone else can chime in and let you know what a size 5 woman would convert to in the kid's size.

yup, size 5. eg, i wear 7.5 - 8 in woman's, and wear size 7 uggs.
btw, i have bought kids' uggs, and found that the top of the foot is notably narrower that the womens. there was only about a $20 difference - sadly, those boots are not nearly as comfy as my women's uggs, so i rarely wear them (the kids' version still cost over $100).

The Ugg website says to go a size down rather than up. I know almost everyone says they run big, but mine ended up being a little small. I wear a size 7.5 or size 8 depending on the shoe. Usually it's a 7.5. So when I bought a pair of Uggs last year, I ordered a size 7. They felt okay at first, but then I started noticing that my toes touch at the end. It's annoying, but not so bad that I want to mess with returning them. I wish I had gotten a size 8 instead.

the boots run big...the moccassains....TINY. My dd wears a girls size 4 in the boots and a women's size 7 in the Dakota Mocs. I wear a 6 boots (7 normal shoe) and couldn't even get my foot into the size 8 Moc (it was the largest they had at the shop).

Just make sure that you can exchange them.
