Are there CDs who are higher up than others?
Sometimes the CDs are Asst. CDs so I was wondering how the system works.

Brent and Rachel are Cruise Director's 1 they are DCL's Senior Cruise Director's. Christiaan is being promoted up to Cruise Director 1 and has taken over the Wonder as their Cruise Director. Brent is the Cruise Director for the Magic and Rachel will be the Cruise Director assisting with the new ships in Germany.

The Assistant Cruise Director's 'step-up' to Cruise Director and are more of a Cruise Director-in-training. When Cruise Director 1's are on vacation Assistant Cruise Directors will step-up for a few months. With two new ships DCL will have to develop new Cruise Director 1's and promoting from within is something that Disney likes to do.

DCL takes comments about crew member very seriously - so making positive or negative comments does affect the CM. I've done over 20 cruises and when I see that an Assistant Cruise Director has 'stepped-up' I do 'evaluate' them on the survey. I've been on enough cruises with Brent and Christiaan for know what a 'great' cruise director does. And I want DCL to know what a guests thinks of a 'possible' new Cruise Director 1.

I think DCL has some great CD.

So is it safe to say that Brent will be the CD on the Magic in June???? Do you know who the ACD is on the Magic?

According to Christiaan on our March cruise, Brent will be on the Magic in June.

As to how they decide who will be where--the same as any business. They look at the needs/requests of their personnel and do their best to meet those needs while also meeting the needs of the company. One of the current needs is to train personnel on the Wonder for longer cruises and to train sufficient numbers to staff the new ships. To that end, many contracts (of many positions) are being shortened from 6 months to 4 so that more people will be trained prior to 2011. (this per CMs on ship in March). Many CMs are being moved from the Magic to the Wonder. DCL primarily promotes from within, and this is a great chance for advancement for many of the current CMs.

Our Wonder server in February told us that she was given the choice whether or not she wanted to moved to the Magic in order to work longer cruises, but hadn't decided what would be best for her future in the company.

Where does Clayton fall in this line-up? We really enjoyed having him as our CD! He was loads of fun and out there mingling all of the time. Is he still w/ DCL? :confused3

We had Brent one time on The Wonder..and he was "Wonder"ful. Our last cruise last Dec we had Clayton...he was really great too! He awarded me "Honorary Cruise Director" so...that was soooo sooo special!! Love Clayton!!!:cool1::goodvibes

Who is the assistant CD on the Magic right now????

If they moved to Christiaan to Wonder is this mean that he will always be there? What happened to Peter?

No, it does not mean that Christiaan will always be on the Wonder...it means that he is assigned to the Wonder right now. It may relate to the fact that he has a newborn (who has his first cruise recently)...but since wife and baby can't sail all the time, the Wonder gives him 2 PC days to see them. In addition, he is actively training the staff on the Wonder to prepare them for the longer cruises they will be doing.

As to Peter...I don't know where he is (vacation is a possibility), but you're better off with Christiaan! He's as good as it gets.....and nothing beats his one-handed cartwheels across the stage while in uniform

Each ship is assigned a Cruise Director 1 and these assignments will be in affect until the new ships come out. Brent is CD1 on the Magic; Christiaan is CD1 on the Wonder. Rachel is in the office helping with the new ships.

Clayton, Darren, Peter and Ray (and others) are Assistant Cruise Directors that step-up and do the cruise directors job when a CD1 is on vacation.

CD1 contracts are for 4 months - so most of the time you can count on your fingers when Brent and Christiaan will be on their ship.

Brent came on May 9th - 4 months would be around the 1st of Sept. Which means Brent should be back around the first part of Nov.

Christiaan came on in Mar and is off starting June 28th. Christiaan should be back on the Wonder around the end of Aug.

Special needs can change the time frame.

we are hoping for Ray on the Magic in June. When we had him in Dec on the Wonder he told us he would be on the Magic this summer--here's hoping-we really like him

So If I am following this correctly, both of them (Brent and Christiaan) should be on the ship until about 2nd week od December. Is that correct?

I hope Brent will be on the Magic for the October 31st Western. This is our third NJ teacher's convention cruise and have had Brent each time. Last year we had Brent and Christian. That was great. :cool1:

...while wearing a black curly wig or a blonde long hair Aly & AJ like wig. ;)
