How do the Costco packages work?

Ok. Here's the problem: we are going for Dapoer Day over the Sept 17 weekend and also a few weeks later Oct 2-4. We already have hotel at Dapper rates for the Sept weekend and are looking to book the Oct weekend. We are also going to buy annual passes. If I book through Costco for the Oct weekend, what are the chances of getting the park hopper tickets in time for the Sept weekend so we can use them to upgrade? Then we get all the benefits of the Dapoer rates and the Costco package and get the credit towards upgrading. Make sense?

I wouldn't count on it. I believe they send them around 21 days out from checkin. Not much time there.

I would have sworn that you can now get AP packages with no tickets. Not sure if that's directly through Disney or if costco has them as well. Maybe call costco travel?

I called Costco twice last week- they said both times they do not offer packages without everyone in your group buying tickets too. I asked about AP and if we already had regular tickets but it was the same either way. I think some people in the past have been able to do this but it seems like its not allowed any more :guilty: As for the OP I would ask if they would be able to send you the tickets a bit early as what you have planned, if it would work out with the tickets, would be a great plan and savings!

I heard of someone booking a package, then calling back and taking the tickets off because of an annual pass. Not sure if this still works, but they booked for, say, 3 people, and then called back 3 times, removing the ticket from 1 person each time after they bought the APs. As I said, not sure if this still works, but someone reported it did in the past.

Does anyone know if the tickets have expiration dates on them? If I don't get them in time I could sit on them until next year.

I'm not positive, but I think Costco may have changed their policy due to people claiming more in their party than they actually had so they could get extra dining vouchers. For instance, you book a package for 5 when there are only 2 of you and claim that 4 (or all, if allowed) of them have APs. Cost to you is the same but you get dining vouchers for 5 which is $225 in dining credit. You wouldn't do that if you had to pay for tickets on each of them.

Often, they expire Dec 31 of the current year.

Sept 17th and Oct 2nd are only two weeks apart.
If the packages are delivered 21 days before a trip, you should have the package sometime the week before you go to Dapper Days.
Remember when a package is delivered, they require a signature or no delivery!

Sounds like it might work.

Good luck
