We have e- tickets for the first time and I am wondering how they differ from the paper? Do I still go to the american baggage desk or if we have no checked baggage do I just go to the gate? We are leaving very early and it is only dh and me so we will only have backpacks. I just want to have a game plan.:)

If you have no luggage, you should be able to go straight to the gate. Make sure that you have a copy of your itinerary with you in order to get past security. At the gate you will give them your itinerary, photo ID and you will get your boarding passes.

I have to ask though, how do you travel with only backpacks?

Etickets are the best!!!
We have used them on both ATA and American. We typically have luggage to check, and even when we don't, we check in at the baggage counter rather than the gate because we want to try for exit row seats early. The line is always significantly shorter at the Eticket counter, and we have never had any problems.

I honestly didn't know that people still used regular tickets! I've been doing paperless travel for years now, and thought that was just the way it was done! I suppose that's because I usually use the discount carriers, and they're more likely to do that than the bigger airlines. But in any event, it's a lot easier! I too usually check in at the baggage counter so as to get a good seat. I like just having an ID ready, and not having to fumble for paper tickets!
