I have been reading WISH for a while, tried to get on board a few months ago didn't work. Now is the perfect time but how do I get the motivation?

I am looking to lose only about 25-35 lbs max. I just moved to a new area and don't know anyone but my fiance. Perfect time to join curves, especially since I start work on 2/23 and can start going after work right off the bat, instead of trying to get it in to a comfretable schedule. Sounds perfect right, still not motivated enough!

I am getting married in October in St. Thomas while on a cruise. The wedding will be on the island and we are cruising with about 20 friends and family. DF and I are doing a 2nd cruise the next week as our honeymoon. Perfect motivation, yet still sitting at home eating crackers...

Would like to do SBD because I feel it's more for me that Atkins which I have done before and it's worked... but I know I eat too many carb and that's the prob.

How do i get motivated? This is what I woud like to do:
join curves next week so I can get into it before starting work. I would also like to start low carb, SBD on monday as well...

Help me do it......please

My suggestion is join a real gym not curves. Just because of the variety a regular gym will offer you to tone and shape the areas you need and you'll get a higher fat burn with the cardio machines than you will just bouncin from one curves machine to another. JMO Okay the second thing i would do in NOT diet. Why don't you just change your eating habits a little bit. You've got plenty of time to loose your weight. I mean you should be ordering your wedding gown soon right? You may want to just buckle down in pull off 25 lbs in three months and just coast the other 10lbs and have your dress taken in when it gets here. I think you are not wanting to diet so don't. Just measure your portions and eat what you want. Why don't you see where you are at now and then cut back from there using www.fitday.com you can see your cal/carb intake and monitor it there until you get the hang of losing. I tried to stay under 1000 cal and 70 carbs when i was first loosing my weight and i pulling the majority off in the first 7 months then i slowed down just cause i wanted to and i'm right about 2 bls from 100 lbs lost and i'm at goal basicially. I'm loving my look so i'm in no hurry to the two pounds and i love going to the gym my only regret is that i did'nt do it the entire time i was loosing my butt would'nt be so droppy if i had of. :) Oh and don't drink anything besides water. I use drink 2 2liters of coke a day! Now i only drink the water so i strongly suggest it to you. Try to drink half your body weight in water everyday and that will melt some of the weight you want off without even really cutting back if you just did that and measured proper portions of each food group you would be fine! No diet required just good judgement. Best of Luck to you.

I agree with PartyofSix.....I joined the YMCA, mostly for the pool, Yoga and being able to have DS in daycare for 2 hours but now I am so addicted to it. There is so much to do there! DS can only be in daycare for 2 hours a day and when I get home from those 2 hours, I wish I could go back and work out more. And this is coming from someone who was never motivated to exercise. But I have been going almost 5 days a week for a month and a half and I can tell I already lost a few inches. I actually went shopping for cloths the other day and didn't leave the dressing room crying. I would try to set a goal for yourself. Something to get you motivated. Like maybe buying a new bathing suit for that cruise or a nice new dress to wear for dinner, something that you wouldn't even think about trying on now. Or you could even reward yourself with a spa treatment on the cruise. My motivation is at the end of this journey when I am toned up and lose maybe a little weight, I am going to try out for The Festival of the Lion King show at Animal Kingdom. I'm sure with no experience I won't get a spot but I can at least say that I tried. And that makes me push a little harder at the gym.

You got some great advice from Tammy and Ginger, so I just wanted to add:

Welcome back to the WISH Board!! We are glad you are here once again with us!! :)

The advice already given is great.

I want to add my welcome.

Post here often and make yourself accountable to what you are doing. Perhaps this committment will cause you to find the motivation you need to make the healthy choices for you. Take small steps, but take steps.

Welcome and good luck.

Thanks for the response!

I am still on the fence about curves. I know that going to a regulare gym doesn't work well for me. My apartment complex has one so I could go there, but I don't have an structure. I need the structure to start out with. I am shying away from curves because of the membership fee when I jsut don't know.... I know that the "regular" gym without a PT or something won't work, because I feel lost in there. I know what I need to do and how to do it, but without someone pushing me or a schedule to adhear to I can't do it.

My motivation:

Going wedding dress shopping... I won't even think of trying a dress on right now! I am going home in May and would like to order my dress then. I have an idea of what I want but I don't want to even try it on now for fear of being completely dissalluisioned (sp???) Also spending the two weeks in my bathing suit instead of baggy workout shorts...

My best friend, matron of honor, was married in August this past summer. I think I need to tape a picture of her in her wedding dress in front of me. She is so fit, some of the profession pictures of their honeymoon on the beach she looked like a model... I want to look like that. I have nine months to do it...

I think curves will help me kick start working out... along with SBD for now to kick start the weight loss and then I can grow with it...

However, I am still on the computer and not at the gym and these valentine's hershey chocolates just walked up here themselves... I swear!

I can relate to not wanting to try on any wedding dresses right now because I went through the same thing. GO TRY THEM ON. It will really motivate you. Do everything you can to be in places that will motivate you... go clothing shopping..... do anything you can to start getting ready for the wedding etc.... this will also help you to be moving around and not interested in food.
If you go shopping you will be walking around also which will burn calories.
I'm not a huge fan of curves but I know people who love it. Different things work for different people. Good luck!!!!!:You can do it!!wave:
