How do I sneak something through security?

Really? I'm sure the TSA has "spies" going through the Dis, see the title, not read the thread, then do the research to see when I'm flying, where I'm flying from (all of which has been posted on different threads), and flag me for inspection and delay.:sad2:

Where does the thread title say anything about TSA? It's not until you read the post you find out what I'm talking about. If you read the post, you find out I'm trying to keep something secret from my DD, not the TSA.

I'm sorry you're so paranoid, but the title stays.

Paranoid??? Not me buddy........but all you need is for someone to call or email them and TSA sees it..........reads it, decides to check you out.........very easy for any goverment agency to do these days.......it' s your vacation at risk for a silly, immature title.

Have a great vacation...........I hope!

Yes, I'm sorry, I classify that as 'paranoid'. I know government isn't always known for using 'common sense', but I highly doubt anyone
a) sends a note to TSA saying 'sam_gordon wants to sneak something by security' according to a message board,
b) TSA going any further than reading the OP

If what you fear happens, I'm going to play the lottery... because it will have better odds than the TSA 'questioning' me based on a thread title.

As far as 'silly & immature'... did you see how many views this thing's gotten? The title got people's attention. That's the whole point of a title. I'm sure if goofy4tink (or other moderator) thought I was trying to get around some procedure (whether at Disney or the airport), she'd shut the thread down.

I think you're just grumpy that I sucked you in with an intriguing title, and since it wasn't what you thought, I'm "silly and immature".

So be it.

Dear Blogger Bob,

Please see Sam Gordon's post at http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2710689. He obviously is a malcontent and troublemaker. I know that you can track him through his ISP. You can probably even locate his online reservation and alert the appropriate Airpost Security Screeners to his nefarious intent.

He claims he has nothing to hide and undoubtedly he would do anything for security.

Sincerely,

Am I the only one that is concerned that he is paying $100 for a 2 year old netbook?

Yes, we know the TSA website says netbooks don't have to come out of your bag, but not so fast! Someone posted a few months ago about this, and I looked at the TSA website and it says that. So I tried it in January.....Nope! As soon as the TSA agent saw this in my backpack it got pulled back. We had to take it out and treat it like a laptop. I mentioned that the TSA website said I didn't have to do this, but that was a waste of my time. So I went back to my regular way of going through TSA with it coming out and put in a separate bin. So OP, don't plan on slipping it through and TSA not making you take it out, because that plan may not work. I too suggest the family going to the gate before you.

Good catch. While some netbooks are better than others. (I paid alot for my Samsung N10 netbook) I bought my grandson one for Christmas in 2009 for $100 from BestBuy (new). While my grandson's netbook is not even 2 years old yet, it looks like it's been through a war.

I wondered if anyone was going to catch onto that and ask. I did check ebay the other night at netbooks with 2Gb hard drives seemed to be anywhere from $60-$100.

My coworker upgraded his to a 16Gb solid state (faster) hard drive. He still has all the original accessories and packaging. Ebay has 16gb ssd for $150+.

Yup...my experience as well. Tried to send it through in it's sleeve, and was told to take it out and put it in it's own bin. I'm not arguing with the TSA! To date, I've had only good experiences with them. When we flew out of Worcester Mass two weeks ago I had a really funny time with them. The security line was really minimal...really small airport. Dh had the bag with my dd's laptop and my netbook..had to take them both out. But, I had the carry with all my Fish Extender gifts for my cruise. That really peaked the interest of the TSA guy...he said he just had to see what the heck was in my bag. Funny thing is that my dd had a similar bag that she got through just fine. The TSA guy just held up one of the FE gifts and chuckled..asked which one was his!! I would have given him one if I had had an extra one...will know better next time.

Ummm, the TSA being clever enough to monitor this board? Doubt it. Thread (and title) are good to go.:thumbsup2

Big Sis and her band of Airport Security Screeners are undoubtedly pleased with your comments about their lack of cleverness. You might just want to be extra careful now that you are on their naughty list for this post.

The nosiness of Airport Security Screeners isn't so humorous when they confiscate (oops, require one to voluntarily surrender in order to "fly today") something of value that is not on the banned for flying list.

I'm really not all that concerned. If the time comes that they try to confiscate something not on the list...well I'll deal with it then. But...my experiences so far have been fine.

Perhaps you or dear wife could have a "bathroom" emergency or need to "buy" something at the airport store while going through security. That one could dash off to take care of the "emergency" while the other takes daughter through. Then, go through alone with the laptop and meet up when it's safely stowed back in the carry on so the birthday girl doesn't see it.

That is what I was thinking too.....:thumbsup2
