How do I scare my dog???

I don't normally like to get involved, but on this, I feel that I have to.

Why did you get a dog? If you don't spend any time with your dog, then of course he is going to react in the way that he is reacting. I am such an animal person that I don't understand why people like you decide that they want a pet. There is nothing wrong with the pet being outside, so I am not flaming those of you that keep your pets outdoors, as long as the pet is loved and well cared for. In this case, I don't see that. So you give him food and water. What about love? Do you give him that? Pets are the only thing that will love you for what you are. They don't care if you are pooh sized, barbie sized, pretty, ugly anything. The most that you can do is love and care for your pet. Is getting up and going outside to give him food and water and love too hard for you to do? Are you that lazy that you have to do everything through your precious window?
If you wanted your toddler to stop misbehaving ( I do not believe that the dog is misbehaving, he just wants love and attention) would you scare her to make her stop doing that? Probably not. So why would you want to scare your dog. I don't have children, my dogs are my children and I love them no matter what. I would never ever even think of scaring them to make them stop misbehaving.
Give the dog to someone that would love and welcome that dog. Obviously you don't.

From your post here and previous posts, I know you LOVE your dog. You spend time with your dog, and it sounds like your dog is gets plenty of attention and love.

Why even HAVE the dog if you do everything you can to avoid contact with it? If you're going so far as to BUILD a window to allow you easy access to give it food and water so you don't have to go outside, your priorities are out of whack. I can imagine the mess in the dog's area if you don't even go outside in the pen to clean up.

Here I am, big time dog lover, and for the past 9 years, I haven't had a dog. Why? Because I don't have the time to properly devote to animal. And yes, I feel that any animal in your possession deserves your time and attention.

If you can't give some of your time each day to the dog (not all), then you should question why you even have one. Contact a Chow Rescue, pronto. Someone out there feels it is worth their while to socialize and train the dog.

First off, letting the dog kill my cat is cruel.
Second off I saved the dog from the pound! He has been a family pet for 12 years. LIVING OUTSIDE LIKE 98% of the dogs in the world!!! You people are nuts! What about Eskimo dogs??? Sheesh. Do you people really think this way? There are millions of outside dogs. For every 1 big dog that is inside. there are 1000 living outside! Do you people keep your horses inside too??? That isnt inhumaine! Inhumaine is keeping a dog that is intented to live outside INSIDE cramped up. They need room to RUN! They like to play with other dogs. I'm not talking about a poodle!!! He's a CHOW!!! Kinda like an Eskimo dog! Besides what good would he do alerting me when someone tries to break into one of my company vehicles if he's inside??? Ever heard the words "Guard Dog" that implys outside where the threat is at.
Third... What the heck is a TROLL??? Oh yeah, on the Norway ride.

Aw heck just forget it. Forget I asked. I'll go back to Ebay chatrooms where people are sain! You just cant win here. Too many looney toons here. Some of you people need to get out of your homes more and see that we are not all like you are. Thank heavens were not.

Dogs can be both indoors and outdoors, you know.
As far as alerting people if someone is breaking into your vehicle, dogs have excellent hearing and smell. My beagles know when I'm pulling into my street in addition to alerting me if anyone is on my property. This is with them being inside.

Yes, chows are dogs with thick coats bred to withstand all sorts of weather. They are also very difficult dogs to train and can be very mean dogs if not handled/trained/socialized properly. By wanting to "scare" the dog you are certainly not exhibiting correct training techniques

And 98% of dogs are kept exclusively outside? Please provide your sources for that statistic.

Buddy, basically what we are all saying is if you don't have any contact with the dog, he's not going to know what is acceptable behavior. His natural instinct is to attack cats, but you're not even going to bother to take the time to train him.

BTW, I don't measure someone's intelligence by how much money they can make on ebay. Plenty of PhD's don't have a clue about ebay selling and plenty of stupid people do well with it.

Troll. So, we basically learned that the dog is a guard dog and that we nutsy people probably keep our horses in our houses. Hmmmm...

I have an amazing guard dog, Luger, who is a beautiful German Shepherd Dog. There is nobody that would be crazy enough to enter my house with him barking at the door. He has also barked and stopped someone breaking into our cars. He lives in the house with us, sometimes even under the covers in bed during a thunderstorm! I wouldn't have it any other way, so I guess I'm nuts too!
