It is frustrating that you can't delete a profile that has a MagicBand or even just a card linked. This is true even if you've deactivated or reported the MB/card as lost. (Though it's worth a try - once in a blue moon, the system will let you delete a profile with only an MB or card. Not sure why, but I've seen it - and not been able to reproduce it!) This problem is generally limited to your managed guests. If you're friends with someone who has their own
MDE, you should be able to remove them easily by clicking on "Update" next to their name, then on "Remove From This List." If you manage the extraneous profiles, you can't do this.
You can call guest services and ask that the managed profiles be removed. But of course calling guest services is never recommended for guests who don't want their lists scrutinized, for reasons of their own.
There is a way to removed managed profiles yourself. A little cumbersome, but possible. You could remove 8 superfluous profiles in about 10 minutes. And your MDE Friends & Family List will look so much tidier. So much easier to move tickets around or reassign FP or anything like that.
Let's say you have 8 profiles that you would like to remove from your list of managed guests. To remove them, they're each going to need their own MDE. So set up eight new phantom gmail accounts. (Yes, I used the word "
phantom" - don't worry, I'm not going there!
But happy memories, right?!)
So pick the available gmail address of your choice, just adding the digits 1-8 at the end of each. Use the same passwords! Then quickly set up the 8 MDE profiles with your 8 shiny new gmail addresses - again, same passwords and same security questions. For expediency, they were all born in Rye and their father's middle names are Ed. They all live at 3 Hill in Oslo MN (56744). Birthdays are January 1. Etc. (Note that the birthdates don't have to match whatever is on your primary MDE for those profiles.) And keep in mind that you can always go back in and change the personal information if the owner of the profile ever wants to use it in the future. For your current purposes, these profiles are basically being discarded.
Have your real profile pulled up on your phone, then go to Friends & Family and click on "Update" next to the first profile you want to purge. Then click on "Invite to Connect." You'll be prompted to enter that profile's new email address. (Keep track of which email address you're assigning to which profile. Then email yourself that list for future reference. Enter the subject line, "Email addresses for removed MDE profiles in case I ever need this in the future.")
On your desktop, sign in to each new phantom MDE to accept the requests from the real you.
Then on your phone, click on the phantom (who will no longer show as managed by you) and choose Remove from My List. They'll be gone - but with the option to re-friend -- should circumstances change in the future. I can never bring myself to throw away a MagicBand. You just never know. Use a sharpie to write the MDE email and password on each of the 8 phantoms bands. Put them in a one gallon Ziplock in the basement in the hatbox with the 1930s felt cap your grandmother bought at Saks. Okay, now you're in my basement. Sorry.
Suddenly this all sounds very familiar. @Party.Of.4-NY>>>FL did I swipe this from you?
