How do I get rid of Chipmunks???

Our neighborhood is overflowing with these little critters and they are starting to annoy me! They keep digging holes in my landscaping, messing up my mulch and last night I figured out that it was the D&*$ chipmunks that are making all the noise!!!

So what can I do to get them to move out????

good luck. my parents house was overrun with squirrels and they would annoy my gardening parents to now end.

my parents got a dog. LOL sometimes that didn't even work.

My dog IGNORES them! My boys think it is so CUTE to see the chipmunk sitting on the stoop!

They had a blast keeping the chipmunk population under control in their neighborhood this summer.

DH tried making a concoction of hot sauce, hot pepper, crushed red pepper, vinegar, and any other nasty thing he could think of (he looked like a mad scientist in our kitchen LOL). Put it down the holes. Didn't work.

Shredded steel wool and shoved it down the holes, didn't work.

In other words, nothing works. We found if you put something nasty in the hole, they dig another "outlet". Fun little critters, arent they?

For some unknown reason, DH and I haven't seen one single one this year!

My FIL got something from the Agricultural Dept. that you put in a PVC tubeshaped like an upside down T... that they take back to their holes and eat and die in the holes.... this is crucial because if you poison the squirrels or whatever and they die out in the open the hawks and vultures that eat them will get sick and die as well.... that would not be good for the eco system.

Here in Western Pa., chipmunks used to be protected. Don't know if they still are or not.

I can tell you that our cat (who died in Jan.) loved to sneak outside and hunt these!! She did a great job on Chipmunk Patrol!! These little stinkers got into our attic a couple of years ago and did a real number of the stuff stored up there!!

It won't repel you. The smell is too faint for humans. It would be the equivalent of a fox marking it's territory. Humans don't smell it but all animals know to beware.

We were over run too! And by luck they are under control....
do you have a bird feeder? If so fill it with sun flower seeds not the little round seedy stuff. Hawks are attracted to this type of feeder and they seem to love chipmunks!
We had a hawk living on the edge of our property this summer! It was great! Thankfully I never saw him take one but he would sit on our feeder and the chipmunks are way down!

Well, you took my reply. Anyway, I have all around my house, and I think they're pretty cool.
