How do I get rid of "Cat Pee" smell?

I went away for the weekend and my cat peed in the corner by my door,and no mater what I try I cant get the smell off.Its hardwood floor I'm almost ready to sand down the spot and refinish it. Anybody know how to get rid of the smell?

Go to Petsmart or Petco and buy an enzyme based oder remover for cat pee, like Nature's Miracle. Just tell the clerk your problem, they will have 3 or 4 products that will work for you.

I saw that commercial too, love the free "black" light they send you to check any other spot in your house that may have an unpleasant urine stain (like the bed and the shower)

Sorry to tell you but you better start sanding! I don't think the strongest of those enzyme products ever gets out all of the smell.

This is something that has worked for me in a number of different areas, so it may work on your hardwood floor.

Mix baking soda and white vinegar until it forms a thick paste. Apply the paste to the affected area and allow it to dry (usually overnight). Once it is dries, vacume it up and then follow up by spraying the area with "Simple Green".

I'll tell you what, this stuff truly works on just about everything. When my dogs butt "exploded" all over the front door and surrounding area, I used this forumula and it worked like a charm.

Actually, I have to disagree, but you have to apply them very generously, allow them to air dry and be willing to apply them serveral times. If have done this and have managed to get the smell out of wood, carpet and even concrete.

BTW: The black light sounds silly, but it is really a good idea. Often there are other spots you will miss nearby, plus if a spot still glows after being treated, you will know you need to retreat that spot.

Get Nature's Miracle or other enzyme based product. pour it on the spot and wipe up. Then pour some more on and leave it to dry. Let it get into the wood where the urine did. You might need to do it once or twice more.

Yikes! What a visual!

You may want to test whatever you try on an inconspicious area - it may alter the color of your wood floor. Of course, I'd take a white spot on the floor over the cat pee smell in the room for sure Good luck!

Yep, an enzyme cleaner - when done correctly - will completely remove a urine stain. We recently ordered that new Zero Odor stuff from TV for some really set in stains we have, but for things that I catch, something like Simple Solution or Natures Miracle will work.

I have used natures miricle on my mattress, when I got a new mattress the kitten was POd at me see she was naughty and went on my bed, the smell was so bad I almost gave up but then went to petsmart and they told me what to get, I did and it was never to be smelt again. Good luck

you can try nature's miracle. Though I am not certain if it can be applied to hard wood.

It worked successfully (took a few rounds) on our recliner.

I agree with this completely. I had a cat pee in a room in an apartment we lived in, and the smell never completely left.
