How do I confirm reservations?

I rented points and was sent a reservations confirmation number by the seller. I tried to call Disney to confirm and to ask if Pack N Play/cribs were available in a studio. I found out at that point that DVC cust serv will only speak to members. For security reasons, they won't confirm my reservations. Both understandable, but really frustrating.

Do I have ANY way to be sure that the hundreds of dollars I gave someone on the board actually went to a reservation before I show up at the check in desk?

Please help. Thanks!

Based on everthing I've seen all you really have is trust. You could do a three way conversation to confirm if they are willing but from what I've seen and read its still a gamble

A few days before, you will be able to call the resort directly and confirm your reservation. The only thing a member will get is the confirmation letter and that is sufficient.

In the case of DVC rentals, renters do not have any agreement with the Disney resort - only with member they have dealt with. That member will have full control over the reservation up until you check-in at the resort.

All requests regarding your reservation - including location and Dining Plan - must be made via the member and they should be offering that as part of their rental service. That should alse have been made clear before sending any money.

BTW- studios do have the pack-n-play cribs.

Enjoy!

That's odd. I wondering if they have changed their policy recently. I haven't called for a month, but I have called several times regarding rented points. I called to confirm, I called to give them flight info, etc. Maybe they should not have, but they talked to me and were very polite, helpful and friendly.

There was a policy change late this summer (if I remember my dates correctly) for MS to only talk to members.

They receive a confirmation letter? Is it typical for them to pass it along to me? I'm just getting a strange feeling. The post was for a range of dates/points available and I was flexible. For a week we tossed scenarios back and forth both via phone and email, finally, arriving at one. He sent a confirmation number and I sent money via paypal. He called me on a three way call after he called Disney - I guess have no way to know who it was for sure on the other line. After the phone call we talked about adding tix and a meal plan, he offered to have me "listen in" on a three way call while he made the arrangements. I told him I trusted him to make the arrangements. I hadn't sent any more money (beyond the rental money). Now I haven't heard from him in several weeks after multiple phone calls, messages and emails. I found him on ebay after pretty thorough research on his history. I wasn't at all suspicious until the weird, sudden silence. I'm optimistically hoping he went out of town for a few weeks and will be back. Any ideas?

Members always get a confirmation letter in the mail. It is always mailed to the member regardless of who is staying in the villa. You can ask the member for a copy of this letter, but it will not have your name on it anywhere. If you have chosen to use the Disney Dining Plan, you will pay for that when you check in. It cannot be paid for ahead of time. You get your own tickets, either through Disney or a reputable ticket reseller. You can purchase them when you check in if you like.

You do get your confirmation number when you make the reservation, but the confirmation letter doesn't arrive for about a week or two.

The printed confirmation will have the name of the party who will occupy the villa. If the reservation was made in the name of the renter, that's the name that will appear on the confirmation. If the reservation was already made in advance, a new confirmation will be sent when the name change is made.

I would certainly ask for a copy in your name. While the Dining Plan must be requested in advance, it is not paid for until check-in. Park admission can easily be purchased at check-in - no need to do that in advance - although it can also be done online on the Disney site.

I would continue to try to contact the member you are working with to request a copy of the confirmation letter made out in your name. I would also request a written contract with the details of your rental clearly spelled out (dates, resort, villa type and payment arrangements) - since DVC does suggest/require a written contract.

Good luck! :)
