you aren't renting points you are renting a reservation at a DVC resort - but with 5 plus one - you would have to get at least a 1-bedroom if not a 2-bedroom - these are in no way a good buy.

2 studios = 1-bedroom. but unless you are serious about others coming 2 studios won't work for you because they only connect with a 1-bedroom. not another studio.

so go with POR - although you will be crowded or get 2 value rooms - either alternative is cheaper than a 1 or 2-bedroom DVC resort.

not as nice but definitely less expensive.

however since you live in Florida - and are probably driving - then consider offsite. You can get a nice condo 2-bedroom using skyauction for under $300 (okay some are up to $500) for the entire week.

The family suite is at All Stars. The trundle bed at Port Orleans Riverside is a standard room with a pull out bed under one of the beds, for an extra $15 cost to the price of the room per day.

The cost of the room will depend on when you are going.

Well how cool is that. Then I vote for POR with a trundle.

To the OP, renting from a DVC member can save money at times over getting 2 rooms. It depends on when you go, the size of the unit you rent, if you only stay Sun-Thur, (fri and sat are much higher) and how much the member wants for the reservation. Occupany is 4 for a studio, 5 if one is a child, and bedding for 4 in a one bedroom and 8 in a 2 bedroom. As said this might not save you money, over All Star or POR with a trundle.

This is a private agreement between 2 people, not Disney. You will have to find someone you can trust and that is reliable as your vacation is in their hands and truly until you check in you can't be absolutely sure you have a reservation. Very few people have problems renting, but some have. Just do your homework before you rent. There is a FAQ on the Rent/Trade forum.

Maybe my senses are a little off, as I am an obsessive over-planner. But if you expect to be in WDW in a couple of months, you should check out availability now, for the dates you want. Also if there was any particular meal you were planning on (Chef Mickey's, Crystal Palace, or Cinderellas Royal Table to name a few) You better see if there are times available during the dates you wanted to travel. I have been planning my upcomming vaca for years (it got postponed by a pregnancy)In the past 3 or so years, I have read an insane amount of info on these infinitely valuable boards. Last Feb, I paid for my room at ASMO, and at 180 days (dec 2) I made ADRs for our 8 night trip. My trip begins on May 31 I feel that this way, I was for certain able to secure the resort I wanted (ASMO) as well as the restaurants I wanted, on the days I wanted, at the exact times I wanted (within 10 min). You should get your plans confirmed soon, before your ops run down to slim pickins'. Also, as you are from SF, like me, and driving up, you may want to consider staying offsite. It would save you $$$$$$$$$, and give you the convenience of not waiting on a bus, or hoping that there would be 5 available seats on it I would also consider, how much stuff you will have w you in the parks (For ex, will you be bringing your own stroller(s)? This would make bus tran slightly more dif, if you or DH has to sit and hold the baby, and the other has to hold on to one or two if thats how you handle it, strollers. I hear that busses get a bit crowded esp at closing time. If you drive up to WDW, you may want to drive over to the parks, even if you stay onsite (JMO)

Since you are only in the room for the same reasons as my fam (clean bathroom and beds) really think about offsite. You can find a clean place with free breakfast and scheduled bus trans for ALOT less than $100 / night. There are also suite options offsite, where you wouldnt need 2 rooms. Having at least 1 meal a day offsite (breakfast before you arrive at the park for instance, as well as after park evening snacks/ meals) will save $$ too

The ONLY reason I will be at ASMO this trip is b/c IDK if my dd2 will sleep in the stroller during the day a bit, or if she will need to go back to the room for a nappy-poo. So just this once (second time ever, out of more than a dozen trips) I will pay the extra$$$ for the convenience

Do you qualify for any of the Swan/Dolphin discounts? If you are a teacher/school employee, government employee(local, state or federal), or a nurse, you can get a great rate of $150-180 depending on the season. Also they had a promotion where you could get a 2nd room for just $89 more per night. Just thought you might try that if you can.

There's no age restriction that I know of, except that it has to be a "child" but I think that they use the age of eight due to the size of the trundle. I've never heard of someone with a ten year old being turned down for it though.

A family of six would not be allowed in a one bedroom DVC villa. Five is the max whether one is under three or three and older. You'd need a two bedroom villa which would probably be a lot more than two value resort rooms or a Family Suite at the All Stars.

Thanks for the info. I've heard conflicting reports on this. I wonder if it's because nine is the cut off age for kids to be classified as kids at WDW?

All I can tell you is that we used to do it all the time - 5 in the trundle rooms with no one under 9. Has a rule changed? We didn't lie about anyone's age.
