How do I add on points?

Now that we're "real" members, how do I go about finding out how to add on points? It's my understanding that we can get on a waitlist for a minimum of 25 points-cash or 50 points-financed.

I don't yet have my membership packet or an assigned guide.

Mostly, I'm trying to find out the procedure,

1) How much are the points?

2) Do we prepay in full while we await them or at closing?

4) Are there closing costs involved above the cost of the points?

3) Is the price determined @ today's rate or when you purchase (trying to avoid the price increase for June - not even sure if it applies to add-ons).

Of course I haven't sprung this bright idea on my DH yet Thought I'd better research before I present my case.

Yes, you have to buy at least 25 points. If you want Disney to finance you have to buy at least 50 points. As my understanding these have to be the same UY as your original contract. Also, you might not have to go on a waitlist at all. It depends if they have points with your resort and UY in stock. I just did an add on for OKW with a March UY and there was no wait at all.

the price is still $89 per point, until the June increase!

2) Do we prepay in full while we await them or at closing?

I think you do $500 depost to be on the wait list then the rest after you get your points.

4) Are there closing costs involved above the cost of the points?

Nope, no other closing cost.

3) Is the price determined @ today's rate or when you purchase (trying to avoid the price increase for June - not even sure if it applies to add-ons).

I'm not sure.

Also, something that I did not realize when I first did my add on was that I might or might not get the 05 points. I think you have the option to/to not get them for the current year if they are avalible. You do have to pay the maintance fees if you do get them.

Here is a basically what happen for me:
I called my DVC guide on a Friday.
Told him I would like to do a 25 pt add on
He took my CC number (call took maybe 5 minutes)
He said he would call me to let me know if my UY was in stock and about the 05 points.
I called him back Tuesday since I had not heard from him and left him a message. (he still has not returned my call!)
Well, on Friday (7 days after the first call) I received a fedex package with my contract.
I signed and returned the contract on Monday.

So, it basically took about 10 days for the whole process and about 15 minutes of my time.

I am disappointed that my guide (David M.) has never returned my call. I did learn on my contract that I received the 05 points!


It was actually so easy that I won't mind doing it again!
