How do I add money to my on board account?

We are about a month away from sailing, I've guesstimated how much we will be spending on board. I'd like to put that amount into our on board account with my Disney Visa. Can I do this on line? Do I have to go through my travel agent? TIA

You can add money to your onboard account by purchasing room credit through the in room gifts link on the DCL website.

Not sure whether it needs to be done by your TA or not.

You do not need to go via a TA, or by the gifts, just call DCL direct, and tell them, up to Noon USA Eastern time, the day before your cruise, I did it on the UK line the day before my cruise. Guest services on the ship can also take one off payments from any card, not just the credit card given on online check in.

Your TA can help if you wish, but you do not have to use them if paid in full.

The gifts download form is really for friends or family who want to give you a gift.

A related question: how do you check your on-board credit balance before the cruise? I was told on the phone I would be e-mailed with the balance, but haven't.

I've never received email notice from DCL of a balance pre-cruise. If you are looking to confirm something like OBC from an OBB, you can call to ask. I'm not sure how far ahead they'll have note of OBC from a TA. If you put an amount on your own account (like pre-paid gratuities), you should have received an email receipt for that amount but it won't include other OBC amounts.
