How do BWV NOT have USB’s in the rooms!?

Okay, but DVC accommodations are also available for cash stays, just like the regular hotel rooms. I just canceled a reservation for the first week in March because we've decided to put off travel for a while longer. The reservation I had was for just shy of $1000 per night for a 1 bedroom. At that price point, maybe a USB port and a sofa without stains isn't too much to ask? But I'll rebook it for next year regardless so I guess I'm part of the problem.

If Im doing a cash room its at the Riviera only ;)

Something that has lots of static.

I just got back from a stay at Disney's Hilton Head and the phone just seemed so old and out of place. I no longer have landlines in my house. To me they are like a relic from the past.

We haven't had a landline in the house for at least 10 years. When I'm in a hotel and the phone rings I nearly have a heart attack! Why are they so loud?

It’s totally fine and we do travel with them, but when there is no outlet next to the beds, it’s difficult to charge. Especially with the 7am wake-up now for Genie +,
They make you use your phone.

Actually, it’s not fine. For the amount we pay, this is seriously outdated to many of the less expensive options out there.

I would definitely appreciate a tech upgrade. Lamps with plug outlets are a big convenience in hotels. Stayed in a 1 bedroom at Hilton Head. Old construction - no tech. Had to set my plug in cell phone charger on the floor in the bedroom or move furniture to get to an outlet. Laptop plugged in on kitchen counter to charge.

Haven't been to BWV since Feb 2020, but I'm remembering plugging in on the bedside table lamp in my standard studio? Am I not remembering correctly?

Anyway, hope it all comes soon. I'm not getting any younger.

Mine never rang as they have some way of sending a message from the desk where it just lights up. But if it rang I'd probably think the place was on fire and look for an exit.

When all my kids had cell phones in early 2000's, we had cable internet, I dumped the landlines.

Oh, the stained sofa - that I have little tolerance for. I'd throw it out if it was in my home or get it cleaned if possible. So, I pack a throw big enough to cover the thing. (I drive mostly so not a problem for me.

One solution for the OP if BWV is too low tech is to rent out his points and use the cash to stay at Yacht Club. It is a beautiful resort, but I’m spoiled and I need my kitchen or kitchenette and my washer /dryer or free laundry room. And if Moonlight Magic ever returns, to be able to have first dibs on getting entry. Not holding my breath for that though.

Another solution is to sell, put the money in an interest bearing account, and use it to stay at Yacht Club or even the Swan and Dolphin. Have been hearing great things about their newest resort too.

There are things I don’t like about each of my home resorts, but I’m thankful that I have the resources to be an owner. Little things don’t bother me, but I do make sure I let the resort manager know about major issues.

The product they sold us is not what we have now. I bought in 2000.

We bought BWV before that. We were sold a timeshare in the Disney bubble and that is what I still have. Granted dues have gone up, but we expected that. Never expected all the extras that came along years later (Epcot lounge, moonlight magic, being able to purchase the dining plan, discounts on annual passes, some nice paid events). I still have my points and still can book the rooms I want. Can still try a different resort if I want but you can’t beat the BWV point chart combined with the location.

But, even the ones for cash guests are the same.. Owners pay for the updates as part of the normal schedule.

I was in a studio last October, there were USB under the TV and in the nightstand. I always bring my plug.

Where is the lamp plugged in?

Definitely nothing on the nightstands or in lamps.

The lamp is plugged in behind the bed.

Overall, we love the Boardwalk. Can’t beat the location and overall, it’s a great hotel. We do love DVC, and although I know these are separate things, I think the various price hikes and removal of a lot of perks around the parks have been annoying. And then to stay at Yacht Club (which I only used as an example because we were just there), and see all of the tiny little amenities that just make sense and make the stay more enjoyable, I think I just couldn’t believe that they hadn’t even added something small like this, when it’s available in some rooms. And don’t even get me started on the BW studio design. 🤣

USB-A is obsolete. Every new device for the past few years has shipped with USB-C. I strongly hope that hotels stop removing universal outlets in favor of a dead standard.
Yes. I completely agree. All of our phones use proprietary fast-chargers, so built-in USB ports are already obsolete. A regular outlet is much more usable.

They still provide a needed connection to Bell services, housekeeping and maintenance.

So, yes, this would be the best solution and maybe I should change my title; however, there is one outlet behind the king bed, one on one side and one across the room. Add a cpap, and that leaves one near the bed, unless we bring an extension cord and outlet block. Thankfully, we did. In the living room, we need to move furniture to use an outlet near the sofa bed. So, if usb outlets are costly, regular outlets are pretty cheap in comparison and not difficult to add. 🤷‍♀️

When I was packing for my last trip, it was kind of a nightmare with cords. If I'm remembering correctly, I needed 5 cords for 4 devices.

Apple Watch: USB A to their magnetic circle thing
iPhone 12: USB C to Lightning
Kindle: USB A to mini (micro?) USB
Portable Battery Pack: USB A to USB C to charge the device; USB A to Lightning to use it

I also pack a small power strip thing that has USB A, USB C, and outlets along with a 4' or 6' cord to the wall outlet.
Yes, first world problem, but universal cords and charging ports would be nice!
