No rides or characters, I'm sure, but do you know that you are on a Disney property?

I can't seem to make my twins understand that we aren't going to WDW, but it is a Disney place.

I don't think it will matter much to them. I think they'll see it as a FUN place. They Disney is there if you look for it. Otherwise it's pretty subtle.

All of the signage is in the traditional Disney font, there's a topiary of Bambi by the front entrance of the Lodge, and there is Disney merchandise at the shop. Disney uses the same paper cups as the theme parks, so they might recognize that, too. otherwise, there's really not too much to indentify it as a Disney property. Oh, cast members wear the same style of name tag.

I don't really think you're going to get through to your girls about these distinctions - maybe just a "We're going to a fun beach" would be better. It's a wonderful place - have a great trip!!!!

There are so many subtle little Hidden Mickeys in the pictures, it's a lot of fun looking for them all. I think there are even a bunch in the pictures at the front desk-I think they'll give you some sheet if you ask. And if I remember from the Member's Tour, I think there's a picture of Walt Disney and his family somewhere in Big Murgie's Den. And I got a kick out of the carving in our wooden bench in every room (at least all we've had)-M&M. Lots of subtle Disney touches.

The friendliness of the CMs, the occasional Disney logo and sign, and a few other items (such as those mentioned above) are all that you will have to distinguish HHI's DVC resort as part of the Disney magic. However, with all the fun things to do, rest assured your twins will have a wonderful time. Our DD5 considers HHI to be "Disney at the Beach." :paw:

We think most of the CM's at HHI are THE BEST CM's anywhere.... There is more interaction with the CM's there, than at the other resorts (well VB has a lot of planned activites too, but HHI rocks in the department hands down).

If you girls love to swim, do crafts, explore, play on the beach.... HHI is the place.

Have your kids seen Homeward Bound (the movie about the two dogs and a cat who get lost and find their way home- Michael J. Fox is one of the voices, "chance" I think). If they have, tell them they are going to where Shadow lives. Shadow the golden retriever is a recurring them at HH. My kids are infatuated with Goldens (yes we have one!)......they run to look for Shadow when we arrive (you never know where she might be!). She is usually with B'Lou Crabbe!

There are small Disney touches all over, but it's not WDW (no rides except for the ocean and boat kind). It does have the feel of Disney. I don't like some of the other resorts on the island- too busy and too hectic. I like the Disney resort because of its laid back feel. It has more of a WL feel for a WDW comparison (although it is low country- NOT National Park theme ; >).

Enjoy. My kids love it there- in a way more tha WDW. My youngest DD7 visited first at 3. She thought WDW CM's put in the beach. Guess we need to get her out more!

We just got back from our first trip to HH and were amazed at the Disney way of doing things! We traveled with an almost 7 year old, a 4 year old and two 1 year olds. There aren't any rides or characters, but the "experience" is Disney through and through. The CM's were fantastic and there were plenty of activities for everybody. I asked the kids whether they liked HH or WDW better and the 4 year old said HHI! The almost 7 year old said, "I want to go to both!" The Disney touch definitely makes this more than just a beach trip. Good Luck!

Well there is Goofy bingo. Also when we were there they had a very merry unbirthday party, and I think some other related disney activities. Nancy
