to find someone to rent 314 points from for a 7-night stay in a 2BR at BCV or VWL in May (not 2008)? I have points rented for 2 trips next year, but it's for studios, so not that many points are involved. I'm just concerned about trying to plan a trip based on being able to get that many points at one time.

Alternatively, if I wanted to rent points for Sunday-Thursday to avoid the weekend premium & pay cash for Friday & Saturday, would an owner be able to arrange that for me so that we wouldn't have to change rooms? :confused3 (I think this is why I'm seriously considering buying points...at least that way I'd at least have a notion of what I could do :) )

I think you should be able to find an owner willing to rent the right number of points, but if you are that specific about resort, you will want to find a BCV or VWL owner and book it 11 months out.

If you rent Sunday -Thursday, the owner will NOT be able to book a cash ressie for you, and you will have to change rooms unless you can get the two reservations linked by MS and CRO. At the very least, you will still have to check out and back in again.

With that many WDW trips scheduled you would benefit by owning rather than going through the hassle of renting.

Thank you! How would you go about trying to link reservations?

I know it looks that way, but my 2008 trips to BCV, BWV and AKL, combined with my trip last month to WL, are "research missions" to figure out where to stay with my kids & grandkids in 2010. I don't realistically plan to go back more than a few times after that trip. I'm 61, and much as I love Disney, I have to consider how much longer I'd want to do solo trips and whether buying would financially benefit me. I don't think it would. Buying would be something I'd do for my kids and grandkids if they think they'd utilize it. :confused3

Member Services will tell you that they cannot link a points reservation to a CRO reservation. You can put the reservation number for each on the reservation, but there is no guarantee that you won't have to move. You will have to check out and check in again.

Since you are not the member and the member will not be staying with you in the room, you cannot get a cash reservation through MS.

Another option is to rent some nights from one member and the other nights from another. Then ask the two members to ask MS to link the reservations.

Since you are going during a relatively easy time to book a DVC reservation, this won't be as hard as it would be if you wanted a busier time.
