How difficult to get HHI 7 months out for summer?

Since our family would be going to WDW every other year and prefer to stay at BWV, we are looking to buy a resale there so we can book 11 months out. However, one time, either when the kids get older, or when they no longer want to go with us and it is just DH and I, we may want to try the HHI DVC resort. This is not definite, as we really LOVE WDW and I can't really see going anywhere else on my points, but HHI is a possibility because it looks very nice, and is someplace we would like to see.

How difficult is it to get a reservation at HHI 7 months out for July or August? That is when we travel because we are both teachers. I know this is peak season down there though, so I am wondering how we would do if we decided to give it a try one time. I am also wondering about the resorts they are *supposedly* building in California and Hawaii (just for DH and I in like 20 years from now!), but I am sure these will be virtually impossible to book 7 months out for many years!!!

The HH resort has only 21 Studios and 21 1BR villas. There are 5 GVs and 76 2BR villas (all dedicated). During the summer months the resort is filled most weekdays with cash availability typically only for weekend nights (since the points are extremely high - especially for Sat night which is higher than Friday).

All of the villa types may be found at 7 months, but the waitlist may be needed to secure what you want. The 2BRs are usually the last to go. The dynamics of the DVC reservation system provide lots of opportunity for changes in availability, so the waitlist does provide a lot of success even if nothing is available when you first call.

During the rest of the year, there is a lot of availability at the resort within 7 months. Thanksgiving and Spring Break times are fairly busy and the winter months have the lowest occupancy.

Just be warned...once you go to HH you will want to go back again and again!

As Doc said, the waitlist may be necessary for summer stays but if you're flexible with your July/August dates I think you'll get something.

As for the other properites, they aren't "supposed" they are definitely happening. The villas at the Grand Californian at Disneyland are already under construction. The Hawaii property was announced but I am not sure what the construction status is there. The Grand Californian villas will be be added on to the existing hotel (like BCV) while the Hawaii property will be built as 1/2 DVC, 1/2 regular hotle (like BWV).

I think the easiest time to get bookings at the Hawaii and California properties will be at the beginning, before they are sold out. Once they sell out there will be more members who own at those properties so the demand will be higher. The GCV will probably sell out fairly quickly, as it is a small property, but the Hawaii villas will, IMO, be easy to get at the beginning, especially if the economy has not recovered by they time they open. Flights to Hawaii are expensive (even moreso now with the airline problems) as is everything on the island.

I didn't think we would have a hope of getting a 1 bed at HHI in July...............but we got a whole week at the 7mnth stage with no waitlist! I did book on the day that the 7 mnth opened up though!
You will love the resort, it is beautiful!
Good luck!:goodvibes
