How did you surprise your family?

I made up a scavenger hunt for my DD(5) that we did the day before we left! With each clue she got a puzzle piece and once she had all the pieces she got to put it together! It was a Disney Princess puzzle... but that was a big hint and the final clue! The final clue, that was written on the back of the puzzle, sent her to the garage where she found our suitcases, Mickey balloons, their (hers and my 2yo DD) outfits for the next day and a box full of little presents for them!

It was a quite the hunt... one of the clues even sent us to my in laws house (because we were staying there that night!). It took a lot of work to set up, especially since I had to plant clues at their house (45 mins away!) while she was at preschool. But it was ALL worth it!

I have videos on my private You Tube... but there is 3 of them and they're about 30 minutes long, but if you'd like to see them just let me know and I'll post the links!

We always drive and it is a 2 day trip for us so we decided we would take her on a "suprise" on the way there. The first day we stopped at a zoo and let her roam around. She was so excited and thought that this was her surprise. The next day she even thanked us for her surprise and I asked her where we were going now. She said "Home". So we let her believe that. When we get to the WDW arch we tell her to look up. The expression on her face was priceless.

"Where are we at?" DISNEYWORLD! Man she was bouncing up and down after that. It will always bring a smile to my face. Especially since DH didnt think we could do it. :cloud9:

We are hoping to surprise her this year too. But instead of going to a zoo we are going to a children's museum. We are driving further so that the 2nd day is shorter. We are not going to say a word this time and just see how far we can get before she realizes where we are. Still working out the plans for this trip though.

We're about to surprise our kids with their second trip to Disney!

Next year is our 20th anniversary. We've been talking for ages about going on a trip just the two of us. But for Christmas we are going to wrap up trip brochures and tell them we are taking them on our anniversary trip to somewhere tropical. But that we are booking a last minute trip so we can afford for all of us to go. The plan is to keep it secret until we get to the border and have to tell the border guard we are off to Florida.

Think we can convince them that with a last minute trip you don't find out where you are going until you get to the airport for your flight? Lol

About two weeks out all we'll hear is "where are we going? Where are we going? Where are we going?"

We are going March 2014 and we are telling DD5 on Christmas!! She is going to unwrap one of her gifts which is a Disney princess suitcase, inside the suitcase will be the Birnbaum Official Guide to Disney World for Kids, the official parks maps, and a Disney princess calendar. I am going to ask her to flip through the calendar so we can look at the pictures and when we get to March I have written "We are going to Disney World!!" She can read so my husband is going to be recording her while she reads it out loud!! The nice part for us is by that point the trip will only be two months away plus with her new calendar she can cross off each day until it is time for Disney World!!
