How did you save money today?

Shopped at Walmart in the town next door (not my usual Walmart) today without a list--ok that's not so budget friendly. :)

But, I found Norelco wet or dry electric razors for $25. Regular price $60. Looked at these and looked at these before Christmas, but couldn't bring myself to buy them without finding a sale. So, I finally found my sale and bought 2 one for DH and one for our oldest son--who both asked for them at Christmas. :dance3: I hope they'll be as excited about this find as I am!

I also found a Mardi Gras door hanger at half price from $8 to $4. I always buy my household decorations after the season and hang them in my laundry room until I'm ready to hang them on the front door. It will make me smile all year long.

Walmart also had a rack of Christmas/holiday food that was on clearance but still within expiration date. So I bought 2 cans of turkey gravy that I'll use with turkey or chicken dishes and my 94 year old grandmother loves Mike and Ike candy. I found a Christmas package with a .50 coupon!

I then went to my favorite department store and found a purple sweater for less than $9 and I had a coupon and I found a black belt that I'd been looking for on sale with coupon too!

I'm pretty pleased with these little finds today.

We're doing a mini kitchen remodel. I wanted a panel ready fridge. The cheapest one I could find was a $3100 French Door KitchenAid from Sears. I always check for discounts before I buy anything. There was a link for Sears outlet. I found the same fridge for $1700. It has a scratch on the side which is no problem because it's going into a cabinet. With shipping, an extended warranty, and taxes, it was $2500. The original I saw would have been $3700 after taxes and warranty.

I have one! I got the mobile coupon for Target ($15 off a $40 up&up purchase). I had shopping to do already, so I went online and printed out coupons from target.com for those same products ($1, $.75, etc). Then, once I got to the store, I made sure to check Cartwheel for up&up branded items as I went down the aisles. I ended up spending $24 total (also using my Target red card for an additional 5% off) and saving a total of $34 off the original price! I only bought items I needed anyway (mostly household goods).

How did you get this coupon? I had one today for $20 off $50 from the Target Ad for house basics.

I made a decision that will save us some money on our trip in the long run. I have leftover 2 day tickets on KTTW cards from a trip a few years ago. I tried to get them added to MDE so I could make fastpass+ reservations but after many phone calls it just wasn't able to be done. Because it was a Christmas trip we wanted to have our fastpass+ reservations made before we got there, and opted to buy new tickets.
Honestly, I didn't know if I'd ever use them, because I couldn't imagine a time I'd want to wait until we got there and risk not getting the reservations we wanted.
However I checked them today, they are still good, and decided to use them and just worry about rides when we get there. If we stand in lines -so be it.
So that means our ticket upgrade cost will be $600 (or $450 if I don't add hoppers!) instead of the almost 1300 I was budgeting. That and I got a great rate for the Beach Club and have enough points for one free flight. So, it's looking like 7 nights at BC with the kids (who are both Disney adults) this summer will cost $2600 plus food. I am sure we can come in under the $3500 I budgeted and I am pleased with the cost:).

ETA) Now if I really wanted to save some more money, I would book the Orbitz rate I found for AoA LM rooms at $860 for the 7 nights and save that $500 too. I just realllllyyyy want to stay at the Beach Club.

Awesome deal!! I'll have to remember the scratch and dent outlet if we need an appliance thanks.

Even with the best coupon match-ups, I have never left a store with them owing me money (they don't allow overages around here). I'm very impressed. What did you buy, aside from the candy bar?

They will not give you 'cash' back, but you can 'buy' something to make up the difference. We can also 'stack' store 'online' coupons with manufacture coupons. They also double up to .99 regularly, then every few months have 'super' doubles up to $2, or 'triples' up to .99 (different weeks).

I bought store french bread, frozen vegetables, smoked sausage, box cereal bars, toothpaste, deodorant, toilet paper, facial tissues, and shampoo. This is, of course, not a typical grocery run.;) Was a combination of super double coupons, online store coupons, sales, markdowns and rain checks.

I do save a lot though just by being vigilant with the above mentioned 'helpers'. I AM NOT an extreme couponer though - they really give 'saving' a bad name. I don't come close and wouldn't want to wear that name! :sad2:

After booking our flights which works awesome came to realize that our carry on sized bags are just a tad to big.

Rather go carry on as its expensive when you have to check 5 extra bags.

Looked at stores and a cheap bag is $15 and a "nicer" bag starts at about $30 and go up. Looked at duffle bags which I don't want as its going to be a pita and they are $10.

Hit up a few second hand stores and picked up a Samsonite carry on in great shape for $5.

Ate in last night instead of going out.

Today, making $ rather than saving - working OT.

Got the #6 instead of the #9 on the Taco Bell menu.

Hey every penny helps, right?

needed a new dishwasher.
I shopped around online and found one at Lowes for $768. Sears on the other hand had the same machine for $949. Sears also offered 15% if you used your Sears card.

Sears price matched plus gave us 10% back in the difference

$949 - price match of 768= $181 + 10% difference= $199 for the price match so that brought it down to $750.

$750- 15% for the sears card use = $112.50 new price is = $638.

Bought the installation option $149. and they waved the sales tax too which saved an additional $49.
Total price $787 with installation & free delivery.

Used my bonus Shop My Way rewards coupon with allowed me to earn $50 in rewards points. Did you know that there are good coupons codes online Sears web page for bonus points. They release new ones on Sundays and they expire the following Sat.

Lowes would have been $887 out the door.

Total savings $150!

BE CAREFUL.. Buying luggage at the second hand store, they might have bed bugs! so the money you just saved may turn into $100's to exterminate those little buggers.

Yikes, never thought of that, but have heard not to buy upholstered furniture.

Have done neither, but didn't think about luggage! :crazy2:

Yesterday I met up with two folks who were buying things from me through a local FB yard sale group, so clutter out of the house and $15 in my pocket! Then I got into the first aisle of the market (combined trips yesterday to save gas) and realized that I left my coupons (many for FREE items that were expiring the end of this month) in the car.... so I left my cart and made the walk back to the car to get them. All told I got $20.28 worth of food for free. Admittedly not food I would normally buy (frozen WW Smart Ones meals, WW cheese), but it won't go to waste. Plus one of our local grocery chains is offering a 4% discount on most items for the entire year, so by driving about an extra mile or so, I saved another $4.56 (plus this tends to be the cheaper market, so win-win!). I also bypassed the precut fruit (very expensive but tempting), the marked down bakery goods (since DS isn't here to eat it anyhow), and stuck almost exclusively to my list, saving who-knows how much more. I grabbed some limes from the marked down produce rack for my seltzers this week for .60.... nice treat. I also did NOT swing by for a soda or coffee on my drive home, saving about another $1. Today's lunch is homemade chicken soup made with homemade stock from my freezer (free), leftover bits from the rotisserie chicken DH had over the weekend, onions, celery, and carrots bought in bulk, and a can of black beans from the dent-and-ding shelf at the market (less than .50). We are just a family of two this week with DD at college and DS on a trip abroad (okay.... that isn't a big money saver! :lmao: ). I am home on school vacation and DH works at home, so we will have our big meal at lunchtime today. I am resisting the temptation to have a shopping day while I am home with time to myself this week, but I may give in and have a thrift-store shopping day later this week! Love to see how you all are saving!..............P

You must be shopping at Market Basket right? :)

In PA all stores that carry second hand items that are either upholstered and/or contain stuffing (i.e. quilts, soft bodied dolls, etc...) must apply for a license and spray, disinfect and tag these items to insure that the consumer will not be bring unwelcome guests and/or bacteria into their homes. Not sure what other states have these laws, but at least in PA you should be safe buying these items second hand.

Good trip to the grocery today! Cereal was on sale 3/$6 with a free gallon of milk; had a coupon for .75 off one of the boxes and two qualified for a dollar back from Checkout51 app, milk will get .50 back from iBotta app, and the register spit out a $1 off my next purchase coupon!

I ended up working later than planned today but instead of driving thru someplace for lunch before running my errands, I waited and just ate at home. Saved both my wallet and waistline, lol.
