Spring Direct Incentives 2/9-4/27

$37,500 250 POINTS MB SSR VS $46,250 250 POINTS MB VDH DIFFERENCE OF $8,750 or $437 a year more to own VDH !!

$30,000 200 POINTS MB SSR VS $37,400 200 POINTS MB VDH DIFFERENCE OF $7,400 or $370 a year more to own VDH !!

With a February use year, I am no longer eligible for MB. Is it worth it to get a March use year to take advantage of this or no? Or …would they take pity on me and give me back my Feb 2025 points ?

If you own another contract with a February use year then absolutely not

I have tried to read the thread and wondering if someone could clarify the cost of 150 SSR points for a new member, Visa discount, D23 discount, annual pass discount?, Florida resident discount?. Trying to decide if resale or a direct purchase would be better. We live about an 1.5 hours away and would mainly use for weekend stays.

Definitely no to the second question. As to the first, well, I would not get a second UY just to maximize MB. Only way I would consider a second UY in your shoes is if I had second thoughts about the February UY and thought you might sell that other contract to buy a contract with the right UY (or just buy all direct and completely sell your resale contracts). And, you’re probably going to need to have a pretty good explanation for the guide as to why you want a new UY. I think they might give a little more pushback than normal, but I think you could still get it done.

Unfortunately, the SSR offer is only available if you are an existing DVC member. And none of those discounts you mentioned would apply.

That said, I suppose there is theoretically enough time to buy a resale contract, get your account created and then try to buy SSR points as an existing member. But, so many factors can affect how long the resale process takes that you would not be rolling the dice that it all works out.

I cant resist this!!!

VDH AT 150 POINTS $31,800

SSR AT 150 POINTS $27,000

VDH AT 200 POINTS $41,900

SSR AT 200 POINTS $34,000

Savings of $4,800 for 150 points of SSR vs VDH
Savings of $7,900 for 200 points of SSR vs VDH

250 points of SSR is $42,500 vs 200 points of VDH is $41,900. Can get 50 more direct points SSR for $600 more
Don’t do it…

Lol that's not worth. I'll take 200 points at VDH over 250 of SSR.

Well - it's not that you are "not eligible" but you'd be giving up 2026 points and get points in Feb 2027 (for which you can start making reservations in about 3 weeks).

In the past, we made a direct purchase in the summer with a March use year because we didn't need the points immediately and just wanted to minimize the costs. In your case, you'd be buying at the worst time to maximize the MB benefit, but that doesn't mean you can't still take advantage of it. I definitely wouldn't get another use year just for that, and definitely not one that's just a month away from my other use year (but you could get June for example if that fits your needs and then give up the June 2025 points via MB).

Thank you for the reply. I didn’t realize it was only for existing DVC members. If I did buy a small resale contract and then purchased 150 points direct what would the breakdown of the costs be for the 150 point SSR?
Thank you

How far in advance do you plan to book? I'd probably go with resale SSR if you're going to do under 7 months and buy in cost is most important. The Sorcerer pass benefit obviously doesn't mean anything to you since you're a FL resident

You would be considered an existing member at that point and qualify for the incentives previously discussed

Also, the personalized offer sheet has a long disclosures section. This is the relevant part of that-

Thank you for sharing. What this tells me is that whatever you are offered is only guaranteed for 7 days and after that , it can be changed.

It says nothing that it makes you ineligible for future incentives in the same cycle. I would think that would be there if that was the intent.

That is the "@ this time" @Girlstar30 talking.
What it will it be like for the in 5-10 years @Girlstar30 talking?

With Disneyland Forward eventually coming I think it will matter more imo with only 2 resorts at the moment for DLR.

imo I would stay put. Also you should be able to rent your points at a premium if the need arose compared to having to stalk something at the 7 month window to secure with SSR.
Haven’t read everything but even at $150 for me it’s a hard pass. This isn’t a VGF fire sale we are talking about.

The cost of 150 points would be $27,000 plus closing costs - ($215 - $35 incentive per point). If you did magical beginnings, you would sell back your first year points at $20/point and receive a $3,000 check 4-6 weeks after closing.

Mostly it would be for Friday and Saturday night stays and avoiding major holidays since the pass is the Pirate pass. I would say most likely 7 months or less for most bookings.

They can’t give you 2025 points because that UY does not exist.

I would not get a second UY for this reason.

Thank you for posting the details. I was having a difficult time following the thread with the prices and discounts and which applied to each resort.
