I am going in Dec and have a pool view. I have never been, and I am looking forward to it! so what did you think?

It has been a few years since I stayed that, but I loved it.... Hoping to stay in the Villas in Dec 08.. Pool is great, food is good, atmosphere is wonderful.. Got to take buses everywhere but that is the only downside.. I loved just walking around and looking at the Savana.. There are walking paths outside and some viewing areas inside...

so, do you think it is a good choice as a "relaxation resort"? No doing to many parks, etc?
Thanks!

I stayed 2 years ago and loved it. If I wanted resort time, this is the one I would choose. It is beautiful and relaxing.

Awesome! thanks for yor help! Ha anyone done the room service there? how would that be? I sometimes like breakfast in bed.:)

You're gonna LOVE AKL. It's an awesome resort with many things to do. You can easily spend a whole day there and not get done with all of the activities they offer. They even have night time activities such as story tellers and viewing the animals at night with night vision goggles.:3dglasses

Plus the decorations at Christmas will give a little extra magic to the resort. It's already beautiful, but when they adorn the colossal christmas tree with ornaments in the lobby, it's simply breathtaking.

We love AKL so much that we plan on using this resort exclusively for the next several upcoming trips. Already planning our December 2008 trip to AKL.:thumbsup2 BTW, we'll be there 12/8 - 12/15

oh..Kool! I will be there Dec 10th-18th and doing a getaway trip being solo!!

We were there in October 05 and could have filled up our day at the resort, even the kids w/o ever leaving. We loved it.

Absolutely! I regret not having much "resort time" when we stayed there last year. In fact, I'm thinking of going down one day earlier and staying at the AKL for a night before spending a week at the Poly.

LOVE AKL!!! We've stayed several times and I think it's hands down the most relaxing resort on site. We were also there during hurricane Frances a couple of years ago and the parks closed down for 2 days. Even without having access to the outdoor activities, we had plenty to keep us occupied during our 2 day "lock down!" We've also stayed concierge a few times for an extra treat and that was definitely the most relaxing trip we've ever had. It was great being able to hang out in the lounge and just shoot the breeze, play cards, and grab a snack. Have fun...I'm jealous!;)

We stayed at AKL a few years ago and loved it. It's a long walk back to your room every night unless you are staying in the main building. Would DEFINITELY get some type of savanna view and then be sure to bring binoculars - we woke up to zebra and cattle outside our window every morning. The pool is great for kids under the age of 10 - there's only a small slide compared to some of the other resort pools. However the pool itself was great fun for us and had a real nice sahara feeling. Be sure to take a walk around on the paths because the animals area sight.

We ill be there from Oct 7 - 13 . Cannot wait to see it. We have a standard room booked. However we are hopping for a little magic and get a free upgrade.

We really loved AKL. The resort is so beautiful and well themed. The restaurants are so good we return each trip to enjoy them. The pool is nice, except the slide was a bit short. The whole feel of AKL is just perfect for us. :goodvibes

We did a pool view room in February and we will be back in 28 days :cool1:
I love a pool view, I don't see the need to spend the extra money for savannah because you see the animals when you are walking to and from room and when you go to a lookout. I love a pool view at any resort we have stayed at. We found the resort to be very relaxing, the rooms are dark with the curtains pulled and we slept so well. Even going back to the room in the afternoon, it was very quiet and dark. We cannot wait to get back there, wait til you smell the lobby, it is very and just wonderful, can't explain what it is, mixture of fireplace and authentic african food. I can't believe we are at 28 days out. Have a great trip

:faint: The lobby sounds great! I have 57 more days left! i can't wait that long, I want to go NOW!!!

My DD and I stayed there 2 years ago on Father's Day, we were wrapping up our Disney trip on the beach at Tampa/St. Pete but it was RedTide and we cut our trip short. We headed back to Disney and I called while on the road to book the AKL, just so happens they had only one room left on the AP discount. I booked the room at $149 (AP Disc) it was a lobby view with a bunkbed, which my DD absolutely loved, and it was the most peaceful and quiet room I have stayed at on Disney property. The restaurants were awesome and the views breathtaking not to mention all the activities they offer, it is the most relaxing 3 days I have spent at Disney.
I think you will love it!
Have Fun! or Just Relax!!
