In the 3* category, Priceline also uses the airport Hyatt and Sheraton.
I'll echo the post about one of the La Quintas being a disaster, but they are a lower rating level. As long as you request the 3*, you will get a decent place. However, if it matters to you WHICH place you get, don't use Priceline.
The "trick" to getting free re-bids is to add an area that doesn't include 3* hotels. Currently there are several areas, like Kissemmee, where Priceline doesn't have any 3*s. Of course, this could change any time, but for now, it gives you a way around their 72 hour rule. You have to change something besides your price to re-bid in under 72 yours--like your area or star rating. If you add an area that doesn't have the star rating you are requesting, you will stay within the original area. Of course, if you start far enough ahead, you can re-bid every 72 hours as needed. Be aware that Priceline's inventory and prices can change every day. You're never sure if you got the "best" rate, but you can always get something much better than even internet specials.
