How did you find the Dis ?

In preparation for our first trip...back in the age of dial up:)

I could only read two, maybe three posts before *pfzzt*...booted off:rolleyes:

Love my HighSpeed, love my DisBoards,LOVE!!our DVC!:)

:sunny:

I did a search for DVC a few months before we bought in to get information. I came to this board and have been hooked ever since! And, it was the encouragement of this board that prompted us to buy!!

I found out about this site thru the tug boards. Someone said it was a good site and the link was there and the rest is history.

From rec.arts.disney.parks

to

Deb Wills' site (back when it was wdwig.com)

to

DIS (Theme Parks, Resorts)

to

DIS DVC Forum

I have a friend who heads to DisneyWorld every year and he was about to take a trip on a cruise ship. I thought it would be good for him to look into the DVC. I went looking on the web for information DVC besides the Disney site and I found the DisBoards (and others). One result was instead of my friend purchasing DVC, I did.

Heard about the DIS from someone on TUG.

I used to spend the majority of my time on TUG but now I just can't get away from the DIS :hyper:

Great Forums with Great people....I think the love of Disney brings out the best in people ::yes::

I was having a meltdown over my points. Got on the phone with my guide (she's my guide now, but wasn't then...long story) for some clarification. She asked me if I had ever heard of the DISboards. So it was my guide that actually sent me here. Thank you Julie.:D

My sister-in-law told me about renting points on the rent/trade board. I checked it out and got VERY interested in DVC. Went to WDW, took the DVC tour, came home and bought resale. Now I have to have my 'fix' every day!:lovestruc

Did a search for DVC on Lycos, in the summer of '97. Pete had just started the site. One board, and then another for DVC recipes. Looking back, it really seems funny to think how tiny it was and what it has now become!

I was on mouseplanet.com one day reading a thread on DVC and someone put a link to the disboards. Once I saw the DVC forum I did the happy dance and continued to read threads for about 2 weeks!!

:rotfl: That's a good one WebmasterCricket.

Like Granny, I found a link to here from Deb Wills site when I first started seriously thinking about buying DVC. Now, how I found Deb's site originally, that's the question. I think I did a search (pre-google) for Disney information and her site popped up. I think back then it was "Deb's Disney Information Page".

I really don't remember how I found the web site. It was back in 97 when the Disneyinfo was first formed.

I also first found the AOL travel boards.... then rec.arts.disney.parks then from there DIS!

Back in '99, when my DD was in first grade, I was waiting to pick her up after school, and started talkiing to another mom waiting to pick up her first grader. We talked about our upcoming trips to WDW, and she gave me a list of web sites to do some research. This was the site I enjoyed the most, and have been here ever since. I don't post alot, but I do pass along the address to anyone I know who is planning a trip.

In the summer of '03 when we decided to look into buying DVC again, I was looking for resale sites and information about DVC. I did Yahoo search and I found this site. I never knew that there were things like this board on the internet. This is fun!

Bobbi:D

Bought a dvc item off of ebay and the seller gave me this site. Much to my husbands sorrow, I have been hooked ever since.

Being an obsessive planner type, I did the internet search thing a few years back for WDW and the rest is history. Wish I'd found it before our first couple of Disney trips instead of after; in 1999 we stayed at OKW (at rack rates) only because I really wanted a jacuzzi room for our 25th anniversary, and that's what I was told was available (back in the days when we still used a travel agent). Boy, have things changed for us since then! Went from "not a clue about DVC" to "renting points at DVC" to "owning DVC." Zip a dee doo dah!:hyper:

We were already VWL owners and I met someone who had just purchased OKW resale. I asked her how they found out about resales and she told me her husband looked on the internet. I searched for Disney Vacation Club resales and found this site. I wasn't interested in buying more points, but was curious. I was computer challenged at the time and was fascinated by the amount of information available on the web. I also don't post much, but I lurk nearly every day.
